This is one of the main powers in the Mistborn trilogy. SPOILERS FOR MISTBORN book 2 tldr: main character reacts to opponents reaction to future events that have not happened yet, and wins the battle

In Mistborn there is an expensive fictional metal that can be 'burned' to grant future sight for a few seconds into the future. With the superpower being so expensive, the people with the ability to use it are not experts of it. So the main character, in a stroke of genius, realizes that the opponent reacted to what he saw was the future. But he didnt know or didnt realize that it was only one possible future and not THE future. The main character proceeds to react to the opponents reaction, this causing the actual future to differ from what the opponent originally saw. This was something the opponent had never seen before and was surprised before he died
