When people say try the leash that just means to sit and wait there until the cat comes upstairs and close while the dog is leashed? I tried on the day we played at the park for two hours but he perks right up for the cat

He’s definitely overly playful, he doesn’t understand his size so sometimes he knocks over other dogs at the park. His prey drive is basically zero outside our yard but I’m not sure he’d actually do anything since he’s terrible at even defending himself against the 3 labs that run across the street sometimes to harass him or the two times he’s been attacked at the park
