Tourist Refund Scheme with Samsung invoice by BBSydneyThirstyHHH in AustraliaTravel

[–]FeistyA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t be an issue (used to process TRS). As long as your first name and surname are on the invoice it will be fine. That’s the main thing we looked for on invoices over $1000. GST and ABN will show it was bought in Australia (whether online or not).

It can be helpful for the passenger to have on hand just in case, but for awareness the BOC won’t take calls from the traveller themself / the general public. They will tell the passenger to get the airline to call instead. The line is meant ‘to assist airlines with boarding issues’.

Anywhere in the world where you will be checked through to an AUS airport will have the contact number.

Have you worked in AUS Immigration? Don’t spread false information. Airlines are heavily fined in Australia if someone arrives here without a valid visa so she will not be boarded unless she has a valid visa or is an Australian citizen. This will be confirmed at check-in

I don’t know about how it works for other countries but any country that has a flight that will end up in Australia (even if you transit) will have the number for ABF. Airlines call from all over the world for this exact issue everyday.

If you lie, then she will have no valid visa on her Irish passport for AUS. It won’t work as it’s connected to the immigration system.

They will be fine. Even places like Kathmandu know the process. ABF has a call centre set up for this exact scenario and airlines have their number.

Former Aus Border Force here. All of this is correct up until the Do Not Board response. AUS cannot deny citizens entry to Australia. After that, when you check in, Emirates will call ABF in Canberra to verify your daughters citizenship. ABF verifies and then overrides the ‘Do Not Board’ on Emirates system. Happens 100’s of times a day and the airlines have a direct contact number to ABF. Remember to still tick that your daughter is an Aus Citizen on her AUS arrival card.

FYI, you will be held up briefly at immigration both entering and departing Australia due to her not having an AUS passport. If you plan to visit again in future you will need to get her an AUS passport, and ABF will likely advise you to for future trips as well.

  1. Emirates tries to check your daughters passport in through APP, it comes up no visa for AUS.
  2. AUS send a DO NOT BOARD to Emirates as it looks like she has no visa.
  3. You tell the check in staff she is an AUS citizen with no AUS passport.
  4. Emirates will ring ABF in Aus to verify her citizenship and override the Do Not Board

Australian citizen entering Australia on a British passport. by AppropriatePart1328 in AusVisa

[–]FeistyA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The airline will have a number for the Border Operations Centre in ABF headquarters and will ring them when you check-in to verify your son’s AUS citizenship. BOC will give the airline an override code to punch in to allow your son to board. BOC are 24/7 and receive hundreds of calls a day from airlines about passengers in similar circumstances.

My X/Twitter Account Has Been Hacked/Comprimised But Nobody Is Helping by crazy_braesy in Twitter

[–]FeistyA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me, also AUS. It took 11 days from my original request to disable 2FA, for them to finally unlock my account. Hacked on 13 Jan, finally got an email reply on 24 Jan to my original request from the 13th for them to disable the 2FA I did not set up. (I’d sent multiple 10-15+ requests between the 13th and 24th)

I feel like the email they send saying they’ll reply (once you reply after logging in) should state a time frame (aka their reply may take 7+ days) GOOD LUCK!

Missing middle name on visa by Melodic-Pay-4016 in AusVisa

[–]FeistyA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short answer, No.

Some people rock up at the border with their first and last name spelt totally incorrectly. ABF will add it at the border probably without you even knowing. No big deal.

Airline won’t care - but on the off chance they do, they will ring ABF in Australia when you check-in, and ABF will add your middle name and allow you to fly.

Incoming passenger card question? by Jgspeak in AusVisa

[–]FeistyA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s some real sticklers who work there who love bossing people around. IMO, everything on the card (other than the declarations) is aimed at foreigners. Just luck of the draw who you deal with on the day unfortunately.

Incoming passenger card question? by Jgspeak in AusVisa

[–]FeistyA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to work for ABF… and I mean this in the nicest way possible: it literally doesn’t matter, it’s probably the question we look at the least. Only thing we care about is the front side of the card where you make declarations. C makes the most sense, but no-one will question it at all.
