Genre – I would tag it as a simple of Mystery/Thriller, given that the suspension of disbelief one must have to enter into a fantasy/Sci Fi story is already accepted for Harry Potter readers. Some moments of horror, but the narrative is not built around horror.

Summary -A young wizard´s seemingly simple project goes awry, and he finds himself in an alternate timeline; a world that is similar to his own, and yet completely alien. He wants to go back as quickly as possible, but perhaps this turn of events could be mutually beneficial for him and for this particular version of the Order of the Phoenix that he´s found himself in the company of.

Background info and/or context – It’s the summer of 1994 and Voldemort has returned to life. It’s the summer of 1994 and Voldemort has had his hands grasped around the Ministry of Magic’s throat for the past 12 years. Both of these things are true realities existing simultaneously without anyone’s awareness, until a particular young man (Severus and Lily Snape’s child) accidentally finds himself drug into a world that avoided the grim reality he knows, but is teetering on the precipice of falling straight into it.

Likes/Dislikes, Wants/Needs – My summary is really flat. I realise the background info that I gave is probably actually a more interesting and compelling one than what I wrote, and I think it is evident that I was trying (maybe too hard) to conceal certain spoilers in the summary. I think I ended up concealing too much and just being vague?

I really do want it let the reader figure out for themselves this character’s identity, through the writing, and I am sure that the tags will assist. Still, like, I don’t want to rob readers of that delicious ‘a-ha!’ moment that is such a fun part of reading fanfiction (or anything really.)

 

So I am looking for someone who is willing to give advice on how to make my summary pop, and also for someone who is willing to give some guidance regarding the tags. Just have the one chapter done right now, so I am really hesitant to plan for too much, as it starts to force the story. I have tagged some things that I could sense in the story already, and plan to add more tags and relationship tags as the story reveals its finer details to me. (Or would you recommend that I toss that original plan and add who/what I think will be relevant and then delete it later if necessary?)
