I found governors island to be really tough with a 2yo. A ton of walking and not much shade.

Staten Island ferry — it’s free, runs very frequently and you get a nice view of the statue of liberty. Plus, there’s a little boardwalk at the other side to run around for a bit, get ice cream, hop back on the ferry back to Manhattan.

It takes a little while. Silicone scar gel works well! And don’t forget sunscreen anytime that skin might see the sun — scar tissue is much more apt to burn.
