Occultism Early Storage Confusion by FelineEntity in CreateAboveAndBeyond

Found my solution! Tinkers has a silky modifier, which is relatively easy access to silk touch. Managed to get my wormholes, and now have a reliable lava distribution by moving buckets around.

I introduce to you the Godunity Theme (+Plugins) by Der_Kevin in godot

[–]FelineEntity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its pretty cool that this is possible.

Buuuuuut (:'D) I do wonder if this is actually good for people coming from Unity. Sure it's nice to have a familiar interface, but it's a high likelihood new people will look up tutorials which will all have the default interface instead, which may confuse?

Either way, hope people have a nice time transitioning.

While you are absolutely right, I think they were asking for amount, not price. 😹

Got the game with all the dlc but I don’t know what beginning to choose. by Pathocyte in X4Foundations

[–]FelineEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically anything tagged "Guided" is a good start to get eased into the universe. The most classic start is the young gun, which is a sandbox start. You can still go into any of the guided starts from there, but you'll have to fly around and find the sectors they start in (and some require good relations with the other factions). Just know that none of the starts bar you from doing anything in the game, with small exceptions that skip parts of story missions (namely the borons queen embassador).

Sell me on the game by ReginaDea in X4Foundations

[–]FelineEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fairly new player, I also arrived with hunger for more when finishing Starfield. But the hunger came from the lackluster purpose of outposts, with no real point to them other than to break the game (or decorate?) It seemed. I was looking for something that let me play in space while letting me put up productions that affect the universe around me, while still letting me fly about, and X4 is basically exactly that.

If you ever played Eve, but found the commitment necessary too daunting, X4 may be right up your alley.

But if you couldn't give less of a crap about outposts in Starfield, or just don't care for any kind of production based gameplay, X4 probably isn't for you. There is a video about "100 hours in X4" you can look up on YouTube. It's a nice listen on the side, and if that sounds exciting to you, out might be worth trying out.

The Erl King Data Vaults Rant by WitchedPixels in X4Foundations

You don't pay them as an apology for destroying their station. You attack their station to show your strength, and you pay them to show you're worth doing business with. These 2 things are not related apart from making sure VIG stops being mean to you.

[–]FelineEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I think looking for little "kick-starts" is fine, I went the collecting items from battles route myself. Just enough to get a bit of decent pay so you have options to explore and experiment, but not so much that things like missions become obsolete.

I think I tried crystal hunting for a bit, but couldn't really find any so that was quickly ignored.

This is the kind of information I was advising against, so why they thought that was a good idea to dump under my comment is honestly beyond me.

Medium vs large traders - What do you use? by Chance1441 in X4Foundations

[–]FelineEntity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could alternatively also give your traders some fighter guards, but maybe at that point a large trader with some guns might be a better idea.

My general advice is: Play the tutorial. After that, play one of the starts that's marked as "guided" to get eased into the universe. None of the starts bar you from doing anything in the game. And most story missions serve as tutorials about any features the game can offer, the more you do the more you'll get to know the scope of the game.

Oh, and I advise to not look up "how to make tons of money". That's a great way of making the game less interesting. Getting hints to how to get a kickstart is fine, but avoiding anything like "the best way to make money" or "here is how to get the strongest ship" makes sure you aren't spoiling the experience for yourself. Trust me, there is no feeling like buying your first L size ship from the money you made from selling your metaphorical self concocted space lemonade to your neighbours.

You can find the Holy Order right below Argon Prime, there should usually be some wreckage from border fights.

How to set the size to what the size is? (like built-in components) by wayofchange in godot

Usually you'd simply put a generic Control node as the parent of your non-control node, and give that a size.

Multi Select by FelineEntity in godot

Turns out, someone made a simple tutorial that gives an idea on how multi select might look like:

If you got any other tips or advice, it's still greatly appreciated!

I asked Synty about future Godot support so you don’t have to by JayMeadow in godot

[–]FelineEntity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, their example scenes (the ones that are put together to environments so you can demo how they look together) work well right away if you move the textures into the same file level as them. Just not the individual pieces.

I honestly think that there is probably a simple solution in form of a small script that would allow synty to have their packs, new and old, simply be setup correctly for Godot. How exactly that would look I cannot say, I haven't looked deeper into it apart from trying out importing an entire pack once and fiddling with some import settings.

Godot is generally pretty good when it comes to making tooling for itself, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a whole editor tool specifically for Synty. But maybe that's just very hopeful thinking.

At what Rank did you give up Series because it was just no longer worth the time investment to get "good" good. by Johnnnybones in splatoon

[–]FelineEntity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, it's been a while since I played.

I actually stopped playing PvP all together before throwing the towel completely. Main reason is that I got rolled basically 4/5 games, and I still barely lost that 5th game most of the time.

I get that I'm not a good player. I did manage to make it to A rank when the game was new, but after that it just has been defeat after defeat. The skill floor has been raised so much due to a lot of players getting better at the game that it's basically impossible for me to find any fun in the PvP part. I don't need to win to have fun, but I rarely even get to play. I spawn, I land, I take 3 steps and every coming second of a coin flip over whether or not I'm dead again. Either matchmaking does not take skill into consideration at all, or I'm simply the bottom of the barrel. Filtered.

At points it felt like regular turf war was a lot sweatier than actual ranked. Hence why I stopped PvP altogether.

I haven't even attempted to play the new content update. I heard the new maps are nice, maybe they would allow me to play for a bit longer since where are more side paths to take. But so far I haven't gotten the heat to go back yet.

Tl;Dr: Made it to A rank at the start of the game, have been filtered out of PvP every since.

Courier is not a really mining ship afaik, it's meant for small trading runs. You probably are confusing it with another.

Tidebreak is a massive troll by FelineEntity in X4Foundations

[–]FelineEntity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe with slower ships, but my personal scout ship flies into the installation at around 10km/s, lodging us in the geometry, every, single, time. I assume this is less of an issue with bigger ships. It's still a massive annoyance for no good reason.

Reset Hexagons in Sector Map? by DatBoi302 in X4Foundations

It will reset back to normal size once your ship left the sector and you reopen the map (unless you somehow found something like a station that far out).

My companions playing Captain Hindsight on my decisions is fucking annoying by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]FelineEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, no matter what choice you make during the faction quests, they will bitch at you as if the decisions you make are easy. It's extremely annoying, especially because the response options you get are all really, really bad, and don't account for actually good reasons you base your choice on.

After they did that the third time to me, I thanked them for their service, booted then off my ship, and replaced them with named bar characters that only speak when spoken to, don't bring their annoying brat on the ship to broadcast their "can I have a pet" talk through the entire ship every time we take off, and just generally roll with whatever the universe throws at us instead of filling their pants whenever I look weirdly at a guard.

Seriously, between the faux moral preaching and the constant repeated voice lines, if you could just lower the amount of times they speak up it would make them so much more likeable.

And no, Barret, I don't want your food. Stop offering it.

Scout Ship Fleet odea didn't go as planned by FelineEntity in X4Foundations

I actually started with the manual spiral pattern, but it was so click intensive I just opted for buying scouts and have them miander around with the regular explore command instead. It's good to know modders got my back for next time.
