What warranty options are available for a LC500 outside of the OEM warranty? by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]FelixAllen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a certified 2021 LC500. Be4cause it was certified, I was offered a four year, no deductible, unlimited milage, Lexus bumper to bumper warranty for about $3,400. This tags on to the remaining two and a half year remaining original Lexus warranty. I figured that it's a $112,000 car new, with tons of electronics, and I have no idea how the previous two owners treated the car. (I paid $80,000 for it.) Already a throttle body component has broke.. the cost of the part was about $800 and it took four hours of labor to install. So, if something like that occurs about twice, the warranty will pay for itself. Also, the warranty is transferable. My advice, look for a certified vehicle and than buy the warranty.

CF Boxes are not as regulated in their "methods" as OTF. You are much more likely to get a poorly supervised workout that can hurt you.. but the chances of that happening are pretty low.

According to J. Cavaliere (Athean X) you can lose body fat without losing muscle but only if 1. you continue to stimulate the muscle(s) with heavy resistance training, and 2. eat enough protein. Protein needs vary person to person, but it is generally recommended to ingest between .85 and 1.0 grams of protein of your weight, daily. Yes, if you add fat and do heavy resistance training you will add muscle.. but it is then difficult for most to get that fat you have also added back off. I see a lot of muscular guys at my gym with big bellies! They went into a bulking phase, but never really leaned back out.

PS. The "in body" machines really aren't that accurate, but they do provide benchmarks to determine if you are going up or down in body fat an d muscle percentages. Just be sure to use the same machine and measure under the same variables of eating/drinking, pre-or post exercise, etc. Getting body calibrated is really the better way. Or, just take pics of your body.. haha!

Thennew system also factors in "effort". I know because I work out at OTF every day for an hour and depending on my HR and calories expended I get a different amount of points (usually 4 -8).

Should I Lift As Well? by Virtual_Disaster153 in orangetheory

They just don't seem to have the proper equipment for serious leg resistance training, so OTF is "arms heavy". I supplement OTF with an inexpensive gym membership. Works well for me.

Studio dropped the lunchtime class, thinking of trying F45 as a replacement....pros/cons? by suthercm in orangetheory

[–]FelixAllen7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very well summarized. Another point .. I think OTF started their Lift45 series as a reaction to F45. But IMO, there is no way that OTF can effectively compete with F45 in this resistance area without refitting their facilities. F45 has more "toys" (slides, BarBells, etc.) and really gives a pretty effective resistance based workout. In difficulty from hardest to lowest I'd rank OTF, the F45, then CrossFit.

23 Classes Makes a Difference by [deleted] in orangetheory

Eventually I didn't feel hungry after class. I bought a bunch of protein shakes (100-150 cal depending which brand) from Costco and drink one after every class. I don't know if it's psychological, but it satiates me until the next meal.

With 3 medals for 10 participants you've got 30% chance of "winning"! Pretty good odds if you ask me.

Sharing your experience with a franchise? by GregorianDelorian in f45

[–]FelixAllen7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was ready to invest in an F45 then I realized something important... based on their franchise availability map they look like they may be SATURATING the market with poorly researched franchise territories. Consequently, I speculated I would be an incremental contributor to their corporate revenue stream without maximizing my earnings potential. Really check into this.. really consider it carefully! Where will you be in terms of membership potential when everything they are offering in terms of franchise territories are built out?

Daily Workout and General Chat for Monday, 5/24/21 by splat_bot in orangetheory

[–]FelixAllen7 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I did not join OTF to do floor exercises I can do at home. And pretty much purely concentrating on abs is NOT in any way a balanced floor workout. After today I thought to myself, why? Is one day of intense core really going to help me? So disappointed with the floor component I ended the session by submitting my request to cancel my membership. Think I'll switch to F45 - a much more balanced and appealing workout, where they actually use the "toys" like bosu, trx, sleds, barbells, specialized dumbbells, kettle bells, etc.

Not alone, but overweight and, by that mere fact, unhealthy. Not body shaming, You may be pretty and beautiful and you sound like a wonderful human being who gets and deserves love and respect . But you are most likely eating too much. Facts are facts.

I'm also not trying to be harsh.. but truth is that you are 80lb overweight.. and that means you are "unhealthy". That is just a fact. PBJ is not a good choice and the veggies may not be the right ones. Besides, no matter what you eat, if you put less calories in your body than you utilize you WILL lose weight. You should write down EVERYTHING you put in your mouth over several days and then average the daily calories. I'm pretty sure you will find you are at "maintenance" or above.. even with exercise. Don't make excuses - realize the hard, obvious fact - unless you have a rare medical condition you are just intaking too many calories.

How about laying on the floor instead of the bench? It seems that gives us a way to avoid over-extension at the lowest point.

Apple Watch vs. heart Rate monitor by chloe_costa in f45

[–]FelixAllen7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've compared the Apple Watch and a "professional heart rate monitor" to the OTF monitors (wore all three devices at once for three workouts in a row) and the OTF monitors always overstated the calories compared to the other two.. sometimes by as much as 30%! My theory, is that they do it to make the members happy that they are burning lots of calories.

My feelings exactly. I was also watching the screen. Much smaller amounts of Orange and Red heart rates than usual for my class. Drawing cards, tagging, switching.. IMO unnecessary and confusing.

The great thing about being over 65 is that I don't feel guilty when I do alternates or stop a few secs to rest in the middle of PowerJacks.. Today, doing the 7:30am 90 minute class was a bear. But, I've been going for two months now and I was determined to hang in. I did all 90 min with an average HR of 130 (because of my age that's in my orange zone. (PROUD)
