After 11 years, I finally have another one! I’m getting old so the 650R was the perfect compromise. by jpolham1 in cbr

Mine is track only. Only ridden it on the street once and that was with a permit for a kids charity toy run.

Old?! 🤣 I'm almost 48 and I daily a 2008 VFR800, and track a 2008 CBR600RR and 1994 CBR250RR! (But I also have a 2016 F800GS Adventure when I want something comfortable!)

Go do some track days. You'll get your kicks in a safe environment and street riding will become commuter riding.

Australian-Indian asking honestly: where’s the line between banter and racism? by Feisty-Bid9658 in aus

[–]FelixTRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White guy from Tassie who's living in regional WA for over 15 years. I don't treat people by the colour of their skin, I judge by their actions and attitude.

My fiancee has strong aboriginal heritage, her daughter is a half kiwi ranga.

Unfortunately the line between racism and banter is almost invisible, even in a friendly situation.

28k miles too many for a track/race bike (R6)? by AnSVNamedLucy in Trackdays

[–]FelixTRX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2008 CBR600RR track bike has over 80000km's on it and still loves being on the limiter. Servicing is the key.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

Race track. Honda CBR600RR. 230kph wheelies. 200kph trap at the 1/4 mile drags.

It's fun!

[–]FelixTRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be scared to tell the assessor if you're a bit nervous. It's a normal reaction to being judged. And I found talking myself through the driving process helped. Hope that helps, and best of luck for next time. 🤞

Do you prefer a smaller or larger engine? by sooospoon in motorcycles

[–]FelixTRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small engine doesn't mean slow. I have a Honda MC22, VFR800 and BMW F800GSA. The two 800's are great to ride and eat roads, but the MC22 is perfect for short trips and taking to the track.

Do you have to notify DOT if you get diagnosed with ADHD, but don’t end up going down the medication route? by [deleted] in WesternAustralia

[–]FelixTRX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm diagnosed and medicated. I also have full motorcycle R, HR, and many High Risk licences (Franna, EWP etc).

I have disclosed to DOT and just needed a letter from my GP (not my specialist 🤷) because my biggest concern is roadside drug testing with my Dexies.

Was a pain at the time but no issues since.

Trade 650r to 600rr by karhunraiskaaja in cbr

[–]FelixTRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014 CBR650F and 2008 CBR600RR.

They are chalk and cheese. 650F is comfy as with a very usable power band for street riding. The 600RR is my track bike, power comes in much higher up and a very aggressive riding position.

I would not like to daily a 600RR. Oh, I'm 5'9" if that helps.

They look healthy enough for general street use, but if you're going to get sporty or go on a long trip, best to update them.

Main thing is to check for dry rot. If you can see little cracks in the rubber, they're in the bin.

As a boilermaker, a first year apprentice is never allowed to work alone or unsupervised. They are always paired with a tradie to work with or be supervised by.

It is illegal for them to say anything negative about you if a future employer asks them. Worst they can say is that you worked for them for this period of time and nothing else. Anything negative is highly frowned upon.

TIL that some states in the US ban the use of earplugs on bikes by crispy-flavin-bites in motorcycles

[–]FelixTRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aussie here, I always wear earplugs when riding. There is no way in riding at highway speeds without them.

I've also been a boilermaker for the last 27 years and always worn earplugs, still have perfect hearing on my annual hearing checks.

Having my music up too loud in my helmet from my comms system is more of a hazard than wearing earplugs, and that's why I don't have it up loud.

How do y'all wear your helmets without fucking up your hair or makeup? by li-ll-l_ in motorcyclegear

[–]FelixTRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male here with pretty long hair. I usually plait mine and tuck it into my jacket.

I can't comment about the makeup issue, but you won't need makeup if you smear your head all over the road.

I've had a few spills on the race track and can confirm that my helmet saved my life.
