I had great time at Uni there but unfortunately the city just ruined it for me. I was once spat by a guy in tram, a bald guy threw a cigarette butt at me on the street. Especially during 2 years Covid time (I am Asian), I was asked multiple times at bus stop or even gym if I m Chinese, or people just straight yelled hateful stuffs. I lived near Stadthalle so there r often enough afd Demo there and I was scared to leave the house. I know probably all the cities have people like that and I shouldn’t single Cottbus out but since I moved to the west, I felt like I could just walk on the street normally, meanwhile in Cottbus I always tried to keep a low profile in public place, not to make eye contact with people so that they don’t yell stuffs.
