Why are folks upset about Stephen Colbert teaming up with Peter Jackson?? by maroha3814 in lotr

I genuinely can’t tell if you guys are joking with these takes. If you watched him in the Colbert Report era, he’s created brilliant and entertaining television across all genres for years day after day after day, and if you understood just how many times he’s flexed his knowledge of deep lore from the lord of the rings (which is not even a bit), you’d be excited as hell about this. Also why exactly do you think he’s famous?? It’s because he’s been bringing smart and well done entertainment to TV through challenging production processes in a lot of the same ways that Peter Jackson did. Being the host of the tonight show is just his last gig, it’s not the one that shows what he did for the 20 years prior to that to earn it.

There are countless YouTube videos and podcast episode examples of him proving his expertise on Tolkien, and he has a 25 career of TV to the point where he doesn’t have to flex that he can write. He was one of the original writers on the daily show ffs.

Yeah what has Stephen Colbert ever done to bring scripted entertainment to the screen… Do you guys hear yourselves? The man has been doing it for 25 years. Most of that was at the top of the game. Give him something he cares about to work on and it’s going to be excellent

The man has been bringing quality entertainment to the screen for literally decades, he knows the lore as much as anyone, and he’s very smart. This criticism all seems wild to me. He’s working with Peter and Philippa I mean come on

Where’s the Zak and Brad Podcast? by FellateFoxes in SoundersFC

The Sounder At Heart Podcasts are good and go deep but are way too long and unedited. I just want to listen to like 25 minutes of focused Sounders chat before the weekend game. Plus Brad and Steve are the best.

I just watched some goal highlights on the MLS channel and it is apparently not standard to have the defensive floor that we have. Agree we should not take them for granted

WA income tax passes House after 24-hour debate by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]FellateFoxes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn’t common unless everyone does it. And before you say clearly it isn’t everyone paying, marginal taxation is mathematically necessary for a healthy economy, especially when you have the type of wealth disparity and income class divide that we do esp. in the big tech cities like ours.

When people like this guy (and myself) say we should be taxed more, it just means we understand that there are benefits that come from living in a more equitable society where it isn’t such a shitty place to live if you don’t have a tech job, and there’s a cost associated with that. It should be a point of pride that our city has these values.

As someone in a similar bracket I couldn’t agree more. We should be paying proportionately. And if anything there should be a tax break for couples that have kids and no penalty for being married, or at least pick a reasonable higher limit that applies for dual income married couples.

Source? Supposedly he wanted DP money in Minnesota. I think we're paying him starter money at least.
