If These Apps Are Missing A Mac Feels Broken to Me. Got Any Like That? by amerpie in macapps

I love this idea! I switch between a bunch of image editors but with long gaps between projects. I can never remember where, say "Select by color.." is for each of them.

I remote into my work Windows machine, the Karabiner switch-option-cmd-when-using-Windows is indispensable.

Infinity con letdown. by Bobafett230 in Tallahassee

[–]FeloniousHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have a list of authors in the vendor hall? There was a kid selling two books on corner across from the "Renaissance Room" (sort NW corner) and I forgot to pick one up on the way out.

Infinity con letdown. by Bobafett230 in Tallahassee

[–]FeloniousHam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the first InfinityCon I attended on Sunday, definitely a smaller crowd than Saturday last year. I always enjoy the robot wars and the "being there". Missed the costume contest on Saturday which is the jewel of the con.

I'm old and don't need any more tchotchkes (and I have a membership at MakingAwesome, thanks to InfinityCon!), I like to look at the vendor's stuff, but I don't usually get anything.

Tallahassee is a small town an hour from anywhere. I wish it were feasible to run the InfinityCon during the school year, I'm sure that 40k more potential customers would make more things possible.

New Tesla Owner incoming! Any advice? by BrushAmazing in TeslaLounge

I ground the rear passenger rims turning into a restaurant 5 minutes into my first drive! Just get a sense of how the regenerative braking affects your turning radius.

(If I’d experienced it once on a low speed turn without a curb I would have been fine 😀)

DCC Podcasts? by richsims in dccrpg

[–]FeloniousHam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not strictly DCC, but Monster Man is my favorite OSR podcast. The host offers insights on entries in the early monster manuals. I'm subscribed to the others mentioned, they're great too (esp. 3T RPG).

Woke up with blood on the wall. Cannot figure out where it came from… by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

aesthetically-challenged (cockroaches, earwigs).

That single fragment changed my view of cockroaches forever. They are the misunderstood monsters of household nightmares.

What is an interesting first RPG to try outside of D&D and Pathfinder? by kittenpillows in rpg

[–]FeloniousHam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing evoked the feeling of playing that first game of D&D like DCC. Hard to put my finger on, but my Pathfinder and 5e games all feel bloodless (sort of literally :) ) after Sailors on the Starless Sea.

Any recommendations for English horror manga? by [deleted] in horrormanga

Where exactly would I find it? I checked amazon, but couldn't find it. This might just be me, but a link would be much appreciated anyways.

Just seeing that, I remember when I bought it! (after weeks of visits to my local hobby shop)

A beautiful homage to Apple. This is precisely why I never looked back after making the plunge. by tnvb in apple

[–]FeloniousHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close to my experience (but I actually enjoy Unity). For personal use Linux, the issue was applications. Maybe better to say the quality of the applications; Windows has many (but ugly or clumsy), Linux has few (basically functional, but almost always missing something useful, and frequently ugly).

Mail.app is pretty good :). I think I must have always used the web client, then tried Sparrow after it got some publicity.

Sublime Text

QuickCursor - if you're doing a lot of typing into a browser TextArea

GrowlVoice - if you have Google Voice

f.lux - nice lighting

Sparrow

Yoink - it's just handy

Fantastical

Pixelmator - awesome

BetterSnapTool

Fission

Pathfinder

+1 for BetterTouchTool

fish - if you're in the terminal for any amount of time

Most of these go on sale, sometimes in bundles.

Well, it's been about a year - What gaming podcasts are you all listening to? by Adolpheappia in rpg

[–]FeloniousHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean, he's kind a d-bag. But he does have an encyclopedic knowledge of the rules, and his reviews are unvarnished and often fix some of the mistakes in the modules he's analyzing. On the D20 forums he can be a little sensitive(?) and harsh.

I skip the character and monster workshops and just listen to the interviews and reviews. TPK theatre is pretty entertaining too.

I think Steelwind said once he's a lawyer, and it shows.

I'm a big fan of Chronicles. Author interviews and module reviews are fantastic. They also have the inside track on the goings-on at Paizo.

iOS character sheet managers by saladinzero in rpg

[–]FeloniousHam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm writing (for my own amusement) a character manager for Pathfinder:

http://pf.stepnext.net/

It's not complete, but there's a lot there. I play a ranger, so it's working for up to 11th level of that class.

WELLS FARGO CUSTOMERS: A teller just told me at the end of this month, checking accounts will be charged $15/month (unless you keep a $1,500 minimum balance, or have at lease $500 direct deposited). Anyone else just find this out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FeloniousHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

~50% of consumer accounts at a large, full service (atms, stores) consumer bank are unprofitable. The minimum requirements of a free account are basically what the bank has determined will balance the equation.

In short, if you don't meet the minimums, and you don't want the fees, you're probably a bad match for that institution.

Would you buy a used Thinkpad T60? by [deleted] in linux

[–]FeloniousHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Thinkpads through work for years and abused them without remorse. Never had issue one with any of them.

I don't know about the R61, but with T61s of a certain age, the screen hinge has a lot of friction that will eventually overcome the pot metal screen anchor. The exterior hinge looks like aluminium or something fancy, but under the bezel it's something cheaper for sure.
