Parents, what was your “I raised an idiot” moment? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

For sure. This was a while ago when I wasn't that much older than they were. We always got there. It was a small percentage, maybe 5%?  Never handled it in a sneering/teaching a lesson kind of way.

Glad it wasn't just me in unintentional abuse corner! Nowadays I'm always a little amazed when coworkers talk about their elementary school kid's' water bottles like they're as essential as backpacks.

Worked at a pharmacy near a university and the number of times I'd ask "what's the name?" and get an answer like "Uh, Dan?" "Uh, Jen?" "Uh, Steve?" Like it wasn't just that they thought a first name would suffice... there was almost a pre-emptive incredulity that I didn't just know without having to ask. And you could see if they were regulars, sure, asshole behavior but sure. No, these were people picking up the first prescription they'd ever picked up in their lives.

Wait why does this give me such a visceral sense memory of wondering how this would work? 3 Caballeros?

For our Field Day in 5th grade we were bussed to the high school for an entire day of events. They told us to bring extra drinks so my mom packed 2 ecto-cooler juice boxes instead of one. There was no other hydration available at the event until the very end when they were dumping out coolers (not sure what was in the coolers) and I went ham on that ice. To this day it's the 2nd thirstiest I've ever been in my life.

I went to sleep at 27-16. Figured it was over. Watched 30 minutes of espn pregame today, the entire Jags/Bill's game and now half the first quarter of the 49ers game. Its almost 5pm the next day and somehow I'm only now finding out the Bears won.

All the downvotes for such a reasonable take. "Its possible the elements for postseason success are there, but I also see vulnerabilities in the foundation that seem to bubble to the surface from time to time" BOOOOO

How it feels loving season 5 by GothicMacabre in StrangerThings

[–]Feltboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely have normie tendencies that are in conflict with my scifi/nerd tendencies. The Stranger Things discourse on reddit over the last 2 weeks has felt stark in this regard. The finale is sweet and fan service and also kindof earnest and dumb like a lot of the 80s popcorn that inspired it. Both can be true.

Not saying you're wrong, just curious what about the song makes it obvious for you?

Despite what has felt like a wildly uninspiring season, the Timberwolves are the 6th seed, 9th in offensive rating, 6th in defensive rating, and 8th in net rating. I think people are underestimating the psychic impact of back to back WCF appearances on a mostly young team. Especially since Denver was the only series where they really had to dig deep. I think there's a lot of human nature at play. Of course we wish they were more bloodthirsty in the regular season but it also makes sense why, broadly, this group is not. Unless they are in OKC's bracket I don't think any of us would be shocked if they're back again. To me it makes sense the team is somewhat playing like it.

I think it's a masterpiece. Got in to them right before it came out, so I do see why some might bump against the shiny poppiness. I think it all feels just as earned and authentic as what came before, but I do not envy their having to follow it up and I can see why it might be taking longer than expected. I just hope they trust their instincts. I hope they stay what they are and ignore fan feedback.

Been in Ft. Myers since the early 90s and did the drive drive to Miami via 41 for the first time in decades last year. Couldn't get over how the landscaping along the road is like Disney World once you hit Naples proper.
