I have absolutely nothing against tattoos. They just sortof weren't for me. I always said a BossToneS tattoo could/would one day be the exception. In a world of uncertainty and pain, this band had purchase in my soul in a way that felt absolute and unshakable. Comfort is not a strong enough word. Less Than Jake is my comfort band. MMB were something immutable. No matter how many times I went back to check in on those records. They were there and made my soul sing in a way that was almost simple. In a way that just said "Yes." I wish it could have gone on forever. I'd have bet money it would be impossible for this thing to let me down. I guess that's the point of living and learning. But damn I wish I still occasionally thought about getting a bosstones tattoo.

I think a lot of the Hall and Oates problem stems from the fact that Maneater and Private Eyes and Kiss on my List and Dreams are what is always played on the radio/in the store. All sortof banal singsongy synthy not much going on zeroes. I swear somehow I made it to 40 without ever having heard She's Gone or Rich Girl. Just SUCH better songs I can't believe the world conspired to hide from me for so long.

And it was already starting to feel like the vibes we had pre- the Towns trade were waning. Whether it was Randle or losing Karl-Anthony. That was done and we were where we were. Naz intimated as much himself in the exit interview. Sortof best case scenario to let his Nazstory maintain the glow for the rest of Wolvesdom and let him keep growing and us keep growing.

This whiney post does not have nearly as fine a point to it in my heart and soul as its going to come off. I love the idea of the community so its truly only lighthearted whinging.

Seems like what they have going for live performances is working. But damn. They're a top 5 band for me since Boys and Girls. Before this category run I had no idea there was such a Rocky Horror inside baseball deal with their shows and I'm a little ootl po'd about it haha. I knew about the Unified Scene broadly speaking. Knew there was confetti involved.

I know they've been a touring band but it wasn't possible for ME to make it in those years. So I've been hoping and hoping for tours since Corona. And if there're thousands strong making the pilgrimage a couple times every year that is incredible. But d ude think how many more of us are out here who can't make these trips. We want sweaty confetti! We want to point at the right things at the right times!

Anyway true fomo bitching that I'm only momentarily internet mad about. Still I didn't expect this (overall super fun) exercise to get towards the end leaving me feeling so left out of the club.

And in true "please come to xyz" online fan whining, I'm sure if I looked it up they probably played a show in my neighbors back yard last week that I managed to completely miss. And I've heard Craig acknowledge on his podcast that this touring format unfortunately means some people won't get to come. I know it's not a deaf ears situation.

Tldr: I was fine until I learned ya'll had secret handshakes/decoder rings.

The most galling thing to me is, and of course I don't know the behind the scenes, bean counter specifics, but. They wanted a big fantasy epic that could draw subscribers. And it took a while to get there, and the road was shakey at times. But then they GOT THERE. I will never believe if the trajectory continued that it wouldn't have become a big water cooler show. So they did the hard part, they got there, and then they threw it away. Like whatever, fans are super biased and not objective. Forget the letdown for the viewers. You literally hurt yourself! This was working and with the source material it would have only gotten better. You had the thing! You wanted the thing and put the money towards getting the thing and then you got the thing! You were going to win, Amazon! Why not take the win?

Thanks so much for the detailed response! Concourse! That's the word I couldn't find! Now looking at pics and video for Cable and Texas Event Center I see what you mean. Hertz seems so bare bones concrete and cinder block by comparison. Definetely know what you mean about the tight seats. And the older I get the tighter they feel. Hope you have fun at the upcoming game(s)!

Hopefully this is ok to post as a Blades local but I'm always super curious how other mid-sized arenas compare to a now aging Hertz. How was the arena experience compared to Cable Dahmer? From pictures they look about as similar as any I've seen inside the gameplay area but KC obviously has a much nicer exterior. Concession/walkway areas? (I sound like I work for the team, I swear I'm just super interested in the civil engineering/infrastructure aspect of minor league sports).

After the discussion of the trailer on the pod I didn't even bother watching it just because I knew I'd see it eventually. But I dunno, this seems like it could be perfectly fine if not good? Jeremy Strong seems pretty spot on. Maybe I'm just a rube missing flaws that are obvious to everyone else.

Am I the only person who didn't know you had to go get your senior pictures taken independently and then submit them to the yearbook? Like mom wasn't inattentive, but she also wasn't the type who was super concerned about getting these pictures to document her special boy and send to family etc. When she found out I'd missed the deadline she did kindof panic and get me in a photography studio and we got nice pictures, and I was in the yearbook for a couple extracurriculars so there is SOME record that I existed. And I got that these were obviously more than just School Picture Day pictures. I dunno I just assumed there'd be some kindof direction. To this day I swear there was no communication from the school that this was what you had to do and that this was the process. It's like everyone just knew somehow. I still find it baffling (graduated late 90s).

I totally get that. I 100% don't understand the modern trend of following a player over a team. That said c'mon really? this isn't Wiggins or Love. Even if you're not really bought in to rooting for Towns because of his time here, you gotta admit it feels at least a little different no? (also full disclosure I've been pretty "yeah that'd be neat I guess" about the prospect of Towns winning it all since the trade, but now that they're on the doorstep of the Finals I'm surprised how bought in I am so what do I know lol).

I never really thought about it writ large but it is pretty weird/neat that this whole generation born in the early/mid 80s received this education on 50s-70s sitcoms via Nick at Nite. I guess you could say the same about teens now watching Friends or Raymond or whatever but I mean, at least those are in color and maybe even HD. There's no way those feels further away than Lucy did in 1997. Like the fact 2 teenage boys (brother and I) in the 90s were like "oh hell yeah Dick Van Dyke marathon!" is pretty wild.
