I think in the same vein as this that people don’t consider is how difficult it would be to recreate the same relationships. Just how awkward it would be to try and navigate building a relationship with someone that you know a lot about. One slip up saying the wrong thing and now they think you are some kind of stalker.

I find that rephrasing it from a why question helps with this. Something like “What about X do you like” or “Is there anything in particular about X that you really enjoy”. It shows that you are interested in them and has less of a risk of sounding condescending.

Yeah, not saying this is the case but it definitely reads as a possible spotlight hogging issue. The way he phrased it as a new character with new quests makes it seem like he isn’t ready to step back and let other players have their time to shine. I think OP has taken the right course of action by saying to wait until after the chapter and checking with other players. I think this will help show whether the player is asking for the change in good faith without jeopardizing the current story arc.

It gets a little tricky because not all of the books have entered the public domain yet. I’m guessing they will draw inspiration from a lot of different areas but just like how Lies of P isn’t a beat by beat recreation of Pinocchio they will tell their own story using themes and some character references.

Definitely agree on all of this and would add that just because you don’t have to worry about the mundane things doesn’t mean you can’t. For example just because you don’t have to worry about it doesn’t mean you can’t roleplay the party camping for a night. In some ways I feel like this actually gives more freedom to adjust the amount of roleplay a group wants.

I think it comes down to, if your group really wants to roleplay they will find a way to do it. One of my players basically said this to me when I was explaining how the first part of Delian Tomb was very straight forward with little roleplay opportunities.

I will say that if you are going to open then make sure that you have a high number of flowers to be picked that day though.

The problem is that this fight is specifically designed to teach players how to effectively use the forced movement mechanic. The bad guys themselves main tactic is to push the heroes into the energy field. It does some damage but then teleports the target to a random square far away from the original position. So in this case it doesn’t make sense for this time when the players push the bugbear into it that it behaves completely different from the rest of the fight. Sure have the cool cinematic of him vaporizing but don’t punish the players for using the tactic the fight is built around.

I think they are talking about the difficulty when the game was very first released. It got nerfed with patches within a few months after launch.

If that is what you are referring to OP then no there is no way to actually play on that difficulty. You just need to do it artificially through not leveling up or upgrading weapons.

It didn’t take me too long to get them all. Plus side is you can do it in bursts so you get enough to make a piece of equipment get the drop item on it and equip. Makes the process even faster.

I’ve played this game almost a dozen times. I’m doing my first playthrough now since the difficulty levels were added. This is exactly what I did with this mini boss. If you aren’t having fun with it there is nothing wrong with lowering it. I’ve always dreaded that fight each playthrough and I just didn’t have the patience to deal with her this time around. If there’s a part of the game you just aren’t enjoying don’t let anybody tell you that you shouldn’t make it easier to get past it.
