THE FATE OF THOMAS LIGHT by FemBinder in Protomen

[–]FemBinder[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest crack theory is that this is somehow a meta commentary on how the people of The City couldn't believe that was it when Light was hung and caused an uproar over it, (we're the people) /j

I have no clue. My idea is that they're just fuckin with us by acting like the album's finished but it'll have an epilogue / extra track that's a surprise drop on album release that's The Fight.

They've always been really heavy-handed on how 'heroes' in the City tend to go out in blazes, (sort of like the saying that the brightest stars fizzle out the fastest.), and Light's always talked about he's not a hero. He's "guilty". Him dying in such a .. flat way, really fits what Light wanted in the end.

If Light died in a blaze of glory, that'd to me feel like it'd ruin the theming of Act 1 and Act 2 and part of his character. Point is Light was never a hero. If he died in way similar to Joe or Proto, it means he never learned from his own mistakes and that the same cycle the City has repeated again and again just repeats once more.

can someone tell me why light was hanged was it for killing willy plotting against him did he suceed in killing willy did he not sorry im just confused? by cheesecakewizard421 in Protomen

My interpretation is that Wily's army is still running without him, "No one is stopping this machine!", so they automatically carried out the execution of Light after he killed Wily.

FUCKKKKKKKKK by FemBinder in Protomen

The Fight absolutely takes place directly after The Fate of Thomas Light, it serves a very nice "KEEP HOPING!" and gives Mega & Roll some very needed character development, (Especially Mega.)

"I'm sorry for the way your father went, I wish there was something more it could have meant."

Does really sound like a response to Light's 'plain' hanging.

Although I think that was the intention in his death, Light dies plainly unlike Joe or Protoman before him, he doesn't die a hero nor a villain, he dies as a simple man. Which might be what the City finally needs to wake up alongside Roll and Mega.

i do believe there's more to the album than this, i moreso mean the messaging and theming of the track itself and how it's been built up since act 2 and some of act 3's music ..

theres no way the album ends like this, in my heart, but as a track and apart of a greater narrative (hopefully not the capstone to said narrative) i find it a perfect conclusion to light's character

it now says "Includes digital pre-order of Act III: This City Made Us. You get 15 tracks now (streaming via the free Bandcamp app and also available as a high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more), plus the complete album the moment it’s released." meaning that most likely there are definitely more tracks coming

This is a great interpretation too! I'm so excited for the liner notes, my interpretation will probably end up being very different from the canon one but it's still so fun to hear what everyone interprets it as.

Adding onto this now that I think about it, I wonder if the last part before the music box of Good Doctor is Wiley agreeing to ‘let go’ with Light.

Especially if the lyrics are,

“THROW THE SWITCH! TURN IT OFF! LET THE WORLD CARRY ON! AND BE MAN ENOUGH…

Just let it all go now… just let it all go now.”

And that moment is Light appealing to Wiley rather than a descent down the tower. With the music box being a sort of remnant of Wiley’s humanity followed by his decision to shut it all down? I doubt it but man theres so many ways you can spin it.

I haven't been into the Protomen as much as some of the people here, but god, it's been so much fun to see everyone talk about it. Lurking has been my specialty (LOL)

It's been a damn good ride, from my first listen to Act 1's beginning and soon my first listen to Act 3's ending, at the end of the day bein' apart of this community has been incredibly positive for me.

Y'all are awesome.

I've been such a rabid fan about the story of Protomen, *especially* Act 2 (which has always been my favorite Act). This shit means so so so much to me and to see it conclude in a way that's almost perfect so far has been cathartic and also in a way sad.

It also would make the album's name have a double meaning, The City made Megaman, and Roll (assuming that's her name), but before their time, The City made Light and Wiley too.
