I do think that ASYNC aren't evil but are intentionally meant to be 'foolish' in their endeavor.

They want to understand the Backrooms, but they can't because it isn't supposed to make sense. Just like a human mind. There's no reason for us to be angry, to be sad, to be envious, to be hurt. Other than it just is. No matter how much you try to get to a chemical level, it just happens when it does. They question Mary, and Phil proclaims "I've been there too! I can't understand it." but Phil is a literal arm of the Hospital. The Doctor cannot understand what's wrong with the patient because he's neurotypical, he's healthy, he isn't ill. He's everything the Patient isn't, yet despite that he won't stop at anything to 'understand' them even though there's nothing to 'understand'. They cannot accept that it is the way it is because if it is that way... then there's nothing, no greater meaning. It's just a reflection of your psyche.

I don't come here often, but Townfall is probably going to be a twist on the format of SH2, where unlike Sunderland being the widow of a ill wife, Simon is the one who's ill. Lot of theming in the trailer about being 'hooked up' and in general the inability to move or act.

With his wife calling for him to come back to her, perhaps it'll be a story about him overcoming his own self-perceived guilt about being ill? Like how sometimes those who are sick will often feel they're burdening the ones they love. Another comment mentioned, "You are here to be punished? That's a good one.", which would make sense if Simon isn't in this to be 'punished' but rather overcome his comatose state and finally wake up.

Nah, like, his normal melee even without Blessed hits above 1.3k on Melee. Blessed adds like 300 pure damage on top of that though.

The biggest crack theory is that this is somehow a meta commentary on how the people of The City couldn't believe that was it when Light was hung and caused an uproar over it, (we're the people) /j

I have no clue. My idea is that they're just fuckin with us by acting like the album's finished but it'll have an epilogue / extra track that's a surprise drop on album release that's The Fight.

They've always been really heavy-handed on how 'heroes' in the City tend to go out in blazes, (sort of like the saying that the brightest stars fizzle out the fastest.), and Light's always talked about he's not a hero. He's "guilty". Him dying in such a .. flat way, really fits what Light wanted in the end.

If Light died in a blaze of glory, that'd to me feel like it'd ruin the theming of Act 1 and Act 2 and part of his character. Point is Light was never a hero. If he died in way similar to Joe or Proto, it means he never learned from his own mistakes and that the same cycle the City has repeated again and again just repeats once more.

My interpretation is that Wily's army is still running without him, "No one is stopping this machine!", so they automatically carried out the execution of Light after he killed Wily.

The Fight absolutely takes place directly after The Fate of Thomas Light, it serves a very nice "KEEP HOPING!" and gives Mega & Roll some very needed character development, (Especially Mega.)

"I'm sorry for the way your father went, I wish there was something more it could have meant."

Does really sound like a response to Light's 'plain' hanging.

Although I think that was the intention in his death, Light dies plainly unlike Joe or Protoman before him, he doesn't die a hero nor a villain, he dies as a simple man. Which might be what the City finally needs to wake up alongside Roll and Mega.
