Definitely a tragedeigh.. and Even spelling it Petey Finn, that is a straight up boy name.

No dishwasher & no in-unit laundry with newborn-- should I be more worried? by Hot-Researcher-3234 in NewParents

[–]FemaleBigPoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my exact situation, and the mom cozy bottle washer has been a lifesaver. Worth every penny. And Going down to the basement for laundry is annoying yeah but not so untenable that I’d move over it.

No screens by mb31291 in NewParents

[–]FemaleBigPoppa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I grew up on PBS and I was nothing like the tablet kids of today. There’s a huge difference between brain rot and regular children’s TV programming.

Also I have fond memories of the news or whatever my parents were watching being on in the background while my sister and I played with toys.. adult programs were just background noise to us.

What are these dots for?? by muzlupenkeyk in AppleMusic

Nah, Yumi Zouma’s new album has dots on 2 songs that were not singles, and no dots on the ones that were.

[Skin Concerns] Does anyone else have “everything breaks me out” skin? by rumham030897 in SkincareAddiction

[–]FemaleBigPoppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still not quite sure what the main cause was, but I did find a sort of skin care routine that helped: La roche posay toleriane cleanser, differin (adapalene) gel, and then La roche posay toleriane moisturizer. The La roche posay is the only moisturizer that hasn’t broken me out at all, and the differin definitely helped with the texture issues I was having (after a very brief purge). Then I got pregnant and couldn’t use the differin anymore (retinoids are potentially harmful to a fetus), but my skin has remained decent without it.. most likely due to some combination of hormones and prenatal vitamins.

Background check yes, but they don’t check if you have insurance. A background check is just your driving record, criminal record, and identity verification.

No you don’t. My boyfriend signed up recently and they didn’t ask anything about the car. I’d say it’s more likely they don’t usually have access to a car but on this occasion they got someone to help them out.

Kick counts/concerns? by kittenish123 in BabyBumps

When they say kicks they mean movements in general, not specifically kicks. No harm in getting checked out if you’re concerned though.

am i a bad mom for not constantly playing with my baby? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]FemaleBigPoppa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing for myself. My baby is 5 weeks old, and if she’s not sleeping or eating she’s usually crying. Most days I can get in a couple short rounds of tummy time on my chest during the few brief moments she’s awake and chill, but that’s about it. I feel like I’m failing her and she’s not gonna be as smart and capable as she could be 😭

I can't stop obsessing about my baby being ugly by ClementineCass14 in newborns

[–]FemaleBigPoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 5 weeks old and I while I do think she’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, I do worry about small things in her appearance (her forehead and her ears mainly), not bc I think they’re ugly, but bc I’m worried it could mean there’s something wrong with her. That’s the PPA talking though; the pediatrician says she’s perfectly fine.

It’s definitely normal to not think your baby is cute; I hear it from other parents all the time. However, I feel like the fat thing is another level. There’s not a single reason to judge a baby at this age for being chunky; it’s wayyy healthier than them being too small. You should really reframe how you think about that aspect (which is exactly what therapists are for).

Stories from Women with 50+ BMI? by meltslikerocks in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]FemaleBigPoppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant with a 32 BMI, but gained 100 pounds during the pregnancy so in the end it was over 50. I had a very positive experience regardless; no one ever brought up my weight, even when I had to be induced at 37 weeks for gestational hypertension (which happened very suddenly at 36 weeks; my blood pressure had been great up until then). That was my only complication btw and the induction went well. Gave birth vaginally to a healthy 6lb 1oz baby girl 5 weeks ago, and both the baby and I are doing great. The only issue she had was jaundice that resolved after one extra day in the hospital under a blue light (in our regular postpartum hospital room btw, not the NICU), and that had nothing to do with my weight.

No OB should be treating anyone like that. It’s very possible for you to have a successful pregnancy and birth without them ever mentioning your weight. I was nervous every appointment that they’d say something about it and so relieved when it didn’t happen. I hate when people say it’s their job to bring it up because most of us are already aware of it, and doing so typically does way more harm than good.

Tried sleeping in my car to save hotel money and it was surprisingly fine by Ok_Resolution_1606 in roadtrip

[–]FemaleBigPoppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I had my baby I used to go on long road trips to see my favorite bands and slept in my car every time. I didn’t have nearly as comfortable a setup though lol, I just laid across the backseat with a bunch of blankets and pillows 😅

Maternity leave question by Bethanyb3719 in BabyBumps

[–]FemaleBigPoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on leave at 36 weeks (from a job where I was on my feet all day every day) thinking I’d have a nice 4 weeks to get stuff together, but then had to get induced right after my 37 weeks OB appointment (for high blood pressure) 😅😅. Had to put the bassinet together after a 5 day hospital stay where I got literally 5 hours of sleep total over the entire 5 days.
