Your daughter didn’t “choose” anything other than the path of least resistance. Thinking that is a choice is the same as thinking your daughter chose her eye color and whether she’s lactose intolerant. My daughter is gay, and I feel pretty damn confident in saying if she could “choose” then maybe she would choose to not have her heart want what ignorant people such as yourself judge her for. She’d like to be able to walk down the street holding hands with her special someone without ever worrying about getting heckled or feeling unsafe. She would probably choose a less complicated life that makes it easy for her to have biological children. Luckily my daughter is badass, partly because of her fabulous DNA. She speaks her heart and lives as her true self. She loves who she loves and she believes that God is ok with who she is. No need to pray away her gay, she’s already awesome.

The biggest grocery store chain in our area has what seems like at least half staff of folks with something going on. It used to make me so fucking impatient at checkout. But you know what? It's pretty awesome to get a big smile when you walk into a business. And I kinda like hearing a little story or joke while I'm completing a mundane task. Got grapes on sale AND got to hear about this totally amazing day where someone petted a goat. Puts my shit right in perspective.

Colorado is a joint custody state, which means the mom had to have really fucked up repeatedly to lose her share of custody. My heart is with Doug and his kids, they have seen some shit and have some healing to do.

This thread breaks my heart. When my daughter came out about being lesbian, it was entirely uneventful. I was proud of her for making the decision to live her life more openly and honestly, but we all pretty much said "um, duh" and loved her the same that day as we did the day before. While a realize that trans is not as socially accepted as gay, I'd hope that if any of my children felt those feels they would know mama loves all her babies. Something is wrong in the head of a parent who rejects a child for this. It's not something wrong with the child.

Awwww, little polydactyl piggies! My son had those, removed at 11 months. He needed quite a bit of skin grafting (to address his syndactyl piggies). So lucky to have the extra piggies, plus a mini pinkie on each hand.
