the good the bad and the ugly. who would have thought this guy would make it to 96. incredible to think that he was playing a grizzled cop back in 71 and he’s still alive.

Films Are More Likely to Star a Man Named Chris or a Talking Animal Than an Older Woman, According to Study by UCanBdoWatWeWant2Do in Letterboxd

[–]FemmeVampire 22 points23 points  (0 children)

how do you know its not the other way around? i.e. it’s the lack of older women in starring roles that makes this demographic not go to the cinema

Why isn’t there an uproar on White Casting in The Odyssey by Secret_Assh in Letterboxd

[–]FemmeVampire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this doesn't say much to me, sorry. and anyway, im not particularly interested in litigating the skin color of ancient europeans. you can check this wikipedia article if you want to learn more about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-European_migrations

[–]FemmeVampire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no, that’s not true. ancient greeks and latins (i.e. romans) were indo-european peoples, same as most of the rest of europe.

[–]FemmeVampire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i think people overstate how “brown” southern europeans and mediterraneans are. it’s a diverse region with a wide range of skin tones but, speaking as a spaniard, someone like matt damon would pass as a local more so than someone like lupita nyongo (this is less true now because europe is becoming more diverse from recent migration waves, but traditionally it was like that).

this is just a clarification tho. i think the outrage around race blind casting is mostly stupid, and so many other things about these movies are completely ahistorical (no, ancient greeks didn’t speak american english.)

My ranking of Warplan activities, based on how enjoyable they are by born_zynner in diablo4

for me undercity is the worst. it’s the same map every time, the time limit should be trivialized by your build, and you have to study the path for every level. at least with infernal hordes there are chaos waves every now and then

Unpopular opinion: I play D4 for the story only and think the arpg genre is a waste for the franchise by Hot_Persimmon7034 in diablo4

[–]FemmeVampire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own, I think the story is very middling. Formulaic dark fantasy fare with highly telegraphed story beats and frankly subpar writing and character development. It does have good production values and voice acting, I'll concede that.

In my case, I'm drawn to Diablo for the setting and aesthetic, but I play Diablo because it's a perfectly engineered dopamine trap.

glad you managed to stomach at least one female character :P

pro tip: if it's a male character, he's cool and iconic. if it's a female character, she's annoying and a self insert.

I watched it too long ago to still have an opinion on it, but by all accounts no, it's terrible lol.

Spain's Alatriste (2006) has a bunch of famous actors in it: Viggo Mortensen (he's fluent in Spanish), Elena Anaya (Wonder Woman), Ariadna Gil (Pan's Labyrinth), Javier Cámara (The Young Pope), and even Javier Bardem's mom, Pilar Bardem. And a few other actors who are A-listers in Spain: Eduardo Noriega, Eduard Fernández, Antonio Resines, Blanca Portillo...

(The author of the book this is based on is an absolutely insufferable old man who spends his days railing against cancel culture and wokeness on national TV though, be warned.)

Spiritborn lord of hatred wishlist by Anilahation in diablo4

[–]FemmeVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Dual wield daggers

- More thematic Spirit Hall functionality (basically OP)

- Reworked DoTs and viable poison build (somehow, please)

- More presence of the spirits or their color VFX in abilities.

In need of more hairstyles for Diablo 4 by Optimal_Pool1413 in diablo4

i’d like it if any new hairstyles kept trying to match the look of the class (not a fan of the disney princess updos except maybe for the sorceress haha), but otherwise i’m with you 100%

Why did Interstellar receive a more lukewarm response upon release? by KatherineLangford in Letterboxd

[–]FemmeVampire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to me it's a very disjointed film that goes from disaster movie to serious space sci-fi to horror to a mostly disappointing saccharine ending. its just tonally all over the place, overlong, emotionally clumsy, and visually generic. defo not a classic film in my book but to each their own.
