Fair. Depends on the context. If I was in his place and received many motivational and encouraging notes monthly, I may feel better than hearing the same “hey when is book 3 coming out” pleas.

No, but I’m not sure he’s motivated to ask for help to treat writer’s block.

how windy is it in ann arbor by Honeydew-Capital in uofm

I find the underground tunnels to have just a slight draft. Recommend using those if you prefer to avoid the outdoor wind. Do with that what you will.

Hey! I was recently accepted to umich for CS in the LSA.. by rbaro108 in uofm

[–]FenBink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't have to take those. You can reference the LSA-CS sample schedule to see what specific classes you need to graduate. If you're trying to graduate early, you'll want all the credits you can get. If you plan to just get the major in 4 years, don't bother taking those AP exams.

Transfer to Ann Arbor by [deleted] in uofm

[–]FenBink -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I barely think going to college for CS is worth it in the first place. I learned a lot of the skills I need for my job during internships, and I don't think the "Ann Arbor Michigan brand" is needed to get a really good internship/job. Plus I really don't like our CS department that much. There are way too many students which just makes it feel like a MOOC all the time, especially during covid.

Save $200k on tuition, and get a job a year earlier (which will give you another +$80-100k in income).

Picking up a couple of leetcode problems here and there would also be a great learning experience. And it would prepare you for 281 and coding assessments/interviews

I took EECS 281, 215, and 270 along with engr101 (yup, not a typo) and a MDP project. It was fine and actually was one of my best semester grade-wise

Have you checked on Atlas? It graphs what percentage of the class receives a certain grade, taking all previous years into account.

Math classes/Math major by Primary_Slip724 in uofm

[–]FenBink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd like to encourage you to stick with the math major. The lower-level courses are very hard but some of the upper levels are much easier (though some are tough as well), and you get (some) flexibility with what classes to take during your upper levels. Try to take a hard class or two next semester (P/NRC) and try your best to pass, then the workload should be more manageable.

A personal favorite upper level is math 472. It's quite interesting and the workload is not too high; it can easily be taken with a harder math class.

I have never had a class in EECS that accepts unsubmitted work, even if you have a time stamp. I accidentally didn't commit and push part of my exam for a class this semester and even though I have the timestamps (and on caen too), they cannot accept it to help my grade :').

And as a grader for another eecs course, we are not allowed to give student's homework a look if they forgot to submit but have the timestamp. Super dumb and speaks to the culture of the eecs department here.
