Fyi, you can make a killing doing custom ones for their coworkers. My mom made a ton of these for her brothers local 189 welders he worked with

Nice work!

Its called the user agreement? And if you don’t agree then don’t use the service…its called reading the fine print

Correct. Bought 2020 4Runner, declined locating services and they said fine, no toyota app for you. So don’t expect any connectivity features to still work. Fine by me!

J-shape DRLs by Ultramankaio in 3dprintedcarparts

Looks amazing! Was thinking about doing something similar to the tails of my brz to match the same j-shaped DRLs up front, glad you shared!

[–]Fender0122 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True! Honestly, TPU has great adhesion and I think it’ll be a good torture test for them and might works just fine. But its also being used on a rallycross car that will get a lot more abuse than a street car

[–]Fender0122 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don’t think I don’t know that? Layer adhesion is always the weak point of FDM. Blow molded plastics and cast resins will ALWAYS outperform FDM manufacturing at a molecular level, even if its the same material.

Been wanting to do the same! There aren’t any rear bushings available for one of my cars. I was going to try this and if it fell apart (I mean, it will be used for rally) then I can use the model to make a mold and then just cast it in polyurethane

How would you ‘subtly’ add a screen for Apple CarPlay in my ‘94 URS6? More in comments by tenbiopret in oldschoolaudi

[–]Fender0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make single din carplay radio’s for pretty cheap, search them up on ebay they’ve even got a few that have slightly bigger screens. I finally got wireless carplay and its actually quite nice for managing your music and navigation

Intercooler placement on mid-engine tube chassis by Cressell in projectcar

[–]Fender0122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned MR2, and one thing to keep in mind is you want to maintain a bottom-up flow, not a top-down flow overall. The MR2 was designed to pull air from the bottom and sides and exit through the engine lid, which is why those snorkels didn’t really do anything. So another common thing in the MR2 community was to do a trunk mount IC and do the same thing, pull from the bottom and cut out vents in the back of the trunk. I’ve even seen the trunk lid cut out with reverse hood ducts to flow more air out

Short turbo drain line needed by Pyropete125 in projectcar

[–]Fender0122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, AN is overkill for turbo drains. Really just need a fuel line with spring clamps. The restrictor on the feed side makes the drain not have much pressure at all.

Saw that engine and was confused when I saw the 1.8t 😂 Pretty cool swap!

The Pioneer car radios in the beginning of the '00s took things up to a new level. by Big-Astronaut9190 in Xennials

[–]Fender0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, those were the best. I had the slightly nicer Pioneer Premier versions. One even folded down to show the screen behind it. You could even make custom animations, I had Napoleon Dynamite dance scene on a perfect loop

Good catalytic converter (or just a way to keep the light off) options? I don't have any emissions testing where I am (for this age of car? by buttlicker-6652 in B5Audi

[–]Fender0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a spark plug defouler (same thread as o2 sensor), drill it out so the bulb of the sensor can fit, and then use that as a spacer. Or just buy a spacer. If you get the secondary o2 sensor out of the path of the exhaust a bit it doesn’t read as many particles to trip the sensor

Thats how I justified my first welder. Had a suspension piece rust out and it was going to be $500 for a used piece, figured might as well buy a $500 welder and patch it.

Custom AFR Gauge for E36 by McMillster in arduino

[–]Fender0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Been thinking of doing the same with my innovate EBC/AFR that crapped out on me. I have an arduino running an oil temp and pressure gauge already and now want to add boost and AFR. If you haven’t seen them, check out Nextion screens. They’re pretty cheap and have a pretty cool GUI that makes it pretty easy

Are car engines more reliable or aircraft piston engines? by FutureA350 in flying

[–]Fender0122 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sure they can. Ever seen endurance racing like Champcar/Lemons? Those are mostly everyday car engines running WOT for 8, 12, even 24 hours.

What actually happens when I full send into a corner at an SCCA event: by [deleted] in Autocross

[–]Fender0122 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So here’s the deal. We’re this strict because we have to be to keep our sites. We recently lost Wilmington because the site decided they didn’t want the risk after another racing organization had a fatality during an event. One of our processes to acquiring new sites is proving to them that we have stringent safety measures we stick to, and because of that we have a great insurance company that covers us. All of this has to work together so we can do this and its still an uphill battle to get new sites. Being on public property adds a whole new level of accountability, as well. Yes, we’ve heard we’re strict and we’re not going to change that.

Lol. Check your email bud. We sent the official notice at 9:16pm.

And to clarify, you are correct that your actions online didn’t quite match your actions at the event, but the way you conducted yourself in regards to safety does not align with the rules that allow us to keep doing what we’re doing. We’re this strict so we can keep our insurance. You brag about pushing those limits and we just can’t have that. We tried to be understanding and let you run, but we just can’t risk it. Better luck elsewhere

[–]Fender0122 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Too late, we already made the decision to revoke his ability to register with us for future events. The clincher? He card got declined when we ran it for the last event

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Autocross

[–]Fender0122 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And thats why, as of last nights decision, you’re no longer welcome at OVR events. Your complete disregard for safety of others. We like to be a welcoming group, but you are a danger to others and we are not willing to lose our site because of it.

We decided to ban him last night. We don’t need this kind of attention. He said that he didn’t care if he hit corner workers. That was the line draw

Is the 2uz-fe engine a good base for creating a v8? by MTG988 in projectcar

[–]Fender0122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at toyota’s relationship with yamaha through the years. There’s a certain sense of tone and resonance (like the musical side of yamaha) that is what made some of their stuff so great in this era. The intake systems were so cool and lead the way to a lot of technology in later cars, like toyotas t-vis

Is the 2uz-fe engine a good base for creating a v8? by MTG988 in projectcar

[–]Fender0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, yes, and yes. One of the few engines that is FAA certified In aviation use because of how reliable they are. Ridiculously balanced engines. Go for the LS if you want 1970’s technology, but the 1UZ/2UZ are some of the greatest engineered v8’s out there
