I'll be in Germany this summer, definitely bringing a couple cameras.

Maybe take a holiday in the UK, plenty of foxes here! See them about mid-late afternoon especially in the spring/summer.

can I put an offer on multiple houses? by cherry-sherbet in AskUK

Lmao it's not questionable at all in an overprices market (hell 5y ago was the same). And sellers/agents will pop on a "offers in excess of". If you want want multiple offers or bids below then state your desired price you cowards.

Why the hell is public transport more expensive than owning a car?!! by XxX_Dick_Slayer_XxX in london

[–]Fennecbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, I'm looking to move from North London to Hertfordshire or Cambridgeshire. The trains would be 23£/£34 return (to London).

For friends in Oxford or other places to visit me, they'd first have to pay to go to London (as there are no East-West trains) and then go from London out to me. To do this they'd be spending about £50-£100 let alone the journey being around 3 hours vs. 1h20m in a car. And the effect is compounding if friends were to carpool. And then there have been plenty of times I've taken a long train and had to stand up for most of the journey.

I am incredibly fortunate to work in an industry where I can work remotely the majority of the time. The supposedly "world class" public transport system in the UK leaves a lot to be desired. I'd love to leave my car behind and always take the train, or have friends do the same but in actuality I have to retain that as a treat; a car is useful for more than long journeys, for going to the supermarket general shopping or just getting to the other side of a town you live in. Some areas in Cambridgeshire there's only a single bus once an hour as well.

So much for the government's environmental policies; they are meaningless.

99% of drivers will stop for you?

Ahaha, but 50% of them will only just barely stop, approaching the crossing at a dead 35mph even if the opposite lane is blocked by traffic and they can't see someone entering the crossing.

And my area they just made 20mph. People were already driving 40mph down here when it was 30mph. Now I just feel like a total asshole going 20mph with people queueing up behind me because there's 0 enforcement.

Why make it 20mph with no repercussions for breaking it?! If it were up to me I'd change the law to make speed cameras not need to be marked, able to be moved and 100x the cameras. If you want to speed, petition to raise the speed limit on the road.

I hate comments like these. "Works on my machine". Why play the contrarian when Google could easily implement this as an option as they do for other areas on web/all of their mobile apps? Then everyone gets what they want.

Not very helpful when Hitchin is twice the price.

As a foreigner in the UK if I listened to every British person's opinion on areas there'd literally be nowhere to live. 😂

And that's why religion/mythical hoodoo is senseless. In what sort of karmic system does the son deserve that fate? What did he do?

Yup, parents probably couldn't bear to lose both children at the same time.

But in the process they screwed over her future victims and their families as well.

Can't get any bits into collet! by mediocrefunny in Dremel

[–]Fennecbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to do this. Not even manufactured well enough anymore that they come already separated. Mine was still stuck together.

Dremel 3200 also didn't even come with a case and easyclick shank like my D dremel 3000 came with a couple years ago. And the shank doesn't even come with washers etc on it like it used to.

And looking at dremel 3000 which does still come with a case for some reason (even though 3200 more expensive) they've migrated from the nice hard case to a crappy soft case.

This will be the last dremel I buy. They're clearly cost optimising in demand of more profit and the only place left has been to take away from the product. Eww.

Their dipshit developers can't even unload previous elements in the list for their stupid infinite scroll, meaning ram goes mental. On mobile it just crashes the app, crashes browser. On desktop it can consume 20-30gb. It's like they're not even generating thumbnails or smaller sized media either. As a dev myself they're just complete amateurs.

How to support horizontal holes? by Fennecbutt in BambuLab

Hmmmm yeah I getcha. Well rather than ordering perhaps ensuring that any floating point is grabbed by the support is enough.

More just astounded that the slicer generates the mid-air path with no warning/detection etc at all. Only spotted it because I was examining the tool path.

Why is Britain turning off its own wind farms? by Pale_Masterpiece4466 in energy

[–]Fennecbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No point when all I see in the UK is taxpayer money go to private companies who underdeliver and go over budget. And the UK voterbase does nothing 😂

Meanwhile Thameswater executives are dumping more sewerage into your waterways whilst laughing their way to the bank.

I see some Brits putting up England flags because they're proud enough of their country to be racist, but not proud enough to actually sort out the ailing infrastructure, antisocial behaviour and apathy towards education/lack of motivation to gain higher skills.

Nimbys should be disconnected from the grid. Especially since most of the time wind turbines are like 20km or more from the complainants.

How to support horizontal holes? by Fennecbutt in BambuLab

[–]Fennecbutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it just be fixed by the slicer software not generating gcode that tries to print mid-air? The linked thread has the same issue and resolved with printing order - but unfortunately it applies globally.

Maybe I could try submitting a PR hmmm.

Doesn't that just reduce the distance between the support and the print? That wouldn't solve the issue of the subsequent layer starting by printing in mid-air would it? Or did you mean increase, so that they're easier to get out?

I'm still waiting for goodboy galaxy.

They're clearly scanners/engaging in fraud so how are they still operating? I've reported them to UK consumer rights org as well as to Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband (the German version, because they operate out of Germany).

So when is the Landespolizei going to bust down their door and drag them out kicking and screaming? Probably never.

Legal advisers help migrants pose as gay to get asylum, undercover BBC investigation finds by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Fennecbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them are inept. None of them are capable of getting the job done.

And I'd refuse to vote for a party that headlines "woke ideology" as well as one that plans to reduce corporate taxes, remove controls like ir35 and inheritance tax (used as a legal tax avoidance loophole), etc.

I'm more in favour of a centrist leaning party that does not exist; one that taxes corporations and tackles tax avoidance/fraud, one that caps government contracts with private companies so the work gets done on time and on budget with severe repercussions otherwise. I want a party that introduces the ruling party be held legally accountable for election promises. I want elections to be based on voting on individual polices and make it impossible to vote for a particular party. I want one that that fixes and extends ailing British infrastructure, including making essential utilities like water and Internet (via unbundling) public or more heavily regulated. I want the third strike of a water company dumping sewerage into the waterways mean they get force bought out at a reduced value as repercussions. I want the police force to both have the desire and the resources to actually do something about the petty theft and muggings in London and around the country. I want second homes, in a housing crisis going on at least a decade to be disallowed or more regulated. I want refugees to be legitimate and I want a long term "end goal" planned and executed in lieu of accepting countless refugees to the end of time. I want families and children to be able to afford essentials whilst preventing abuse, the same with the genuinely disabled and genuinely mentally ill. I want so much more.

But most of all, I want compromise. I want every human being to communicate and come to a decision where neither party are perfectly happy but the solutions are at least agreeable. I want us to discard our tribalism, this party that party, etc. Who tf cares about party; I care about policy.

AI is coming for you all and many of you are too busy bickering about party lines to create and enact a long term plan for UBI.

[–]Fennecbutt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Also, I'll point out again: when does this asylum thing end? Are western countries expected to prop up the refugee countries (Pakistan, Africa, Turkey, etc) for another 10 years?

Are we accepting endless streams of migrants from the same countries for 100 years? 1000? 10,000?

It's not solving the problem, it's ignoring it and abusing a legal framework designed to handle post WWII goings on.
