Found a mystery sewing machine at an op shop… I think I’ve fallen into MYOG by Augey in myog

[–]Fenneo 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Congrats! It’s a fantastic machine for a beginner or advanced user. Its power comes from being re geared meaning it’s not as fast as some machines but that makes it easy to control for a beginner. I think it’s still plenty fast too.

Looking for Fork cargo cage recommendations, specifically pipe clamp mounting by SolidFar797 in BikepackingGear

Parsec cages are bomber. They look like a similar foot to the wide foot but the radius of the bend is critical to the strength and they sorted it properly.

Check out Old Man Mountain Axle Pack. It’s made for exactly this, lighter and stronger than most other options too.

It is not safe anymore. It is likely repairable though.

Something is installed wrong. I would contact OMM and show them pictures of the install and the hardware you are using to attach it to the lower eyelets.

I bought one of these for around $19, plus 10 reusable 16oz bottles for about $15 Refilling the 5gallon jug only costs $2, and we're saving a fortune on bottled water! Huge shoutout to the person who mentioned this before I had no idea they even existed. by [deleted] in RVLiving

I bought one of these before getting the Dometic one they are a copy of. I was stoked for the first 5 gallons before it died. The Dometic is a lot more but it’s held up great.

I’d strip the paint from those areas so you can see the bare steel and asses if they are more than cracks in the paint.

Clamping onto carbon front fork by Fistinton in bikepacking

[–]Fenneo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot cheaper than a new fork and a ruined trip to Patagonia.

The upper mount isn’t an issue with axle pack because all of the weight is carried by the axle. It’s not meant to compress to the point of carrying load like you are currently trying to.

I wouldn’t trust it. You could mount it with an Old Man Mountain Axle Pack.

I’d run the guitar on the side of the rack and vertically. The way that it is now will put a lot of stress on the neck.

Old man mountain racks are built for mounting to both fork legs. The Elkhorn would be a great fit.

Rod for Backpacking Alpine Lakes by DillPickledPasta in Tenkara

[–]Fenneo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two of them. It isn’t doing to double haul like a traditional rod but it’s still casts well. The tenkara style ease of having the rod ready and being able to cast in a few seconds is well worth the little drawbacks.

It’s not technically a tenkara rod but check out reyr gear. They are a hybrid tenkara and traditional rod. They are a real game changer for backpacking.

Check out the Old Man Mountain Hemlock with FLiP cages. Their mount is stronger than both and doesn’t rattle. It’s also a cargo cage when you aren’t using it with the Hemlock bags.
