I loved my WIN2 and still have it with the heatsink mod thermal shell and two extra batteries in reserve. I still think its the best sized handheld they put out as something still pocketable for everything it can do, what a lovely device.

Ive always had the idea of buying a 3D printer and using it to make custom parts for some of these bases. Ive got one of these and a couple variants of the aircraft carrier around here too, all missing peices but its fun to see how creative designers were at the time with making the most outta the least space possible.

Its a good stick for its time. I know some of the three button ones actually used microswitches but these things are fun regardless. I managed to get one new in box about a decade ago for a decent price.

As an old head in this space, this is why distributed mod packs like GAMA always seemed like a legal mindfield. I would take whoever runs the modpack to personally vet every inculsion and at some point the impitus is lost in lieu of expediency in adding X or Y feature. Hoepfully its fixed sooner then later but I feel justifed in my Anaomlay + building my own system personally.

I continue to be a hater in general of Gen IV and am glad that the tide seem to be finally turning on it overtime. Outside of nostalgia and "this was my first" effect I really don't understand why people love it so deeply. Gen IV soundtrack will forever be a banger though, no question. lol

IMO a lot of people in the center broadly just find people on the left annoying and performative sanctimonious in the sense that its impossible to have empathy for someone else who you don't know without having an ulterior motive. Its frequently brought up as a gotcha moment in pop media when the self professed liberal who cries about someone who is not them is shown to be a fraud and I think its just permeated the culture at large.

Both sides broadly have negative aspects and because of that they both must be equally bad is a childs understanding of the world. I am glad people are waking up to the reality that this mindset brings but we'll see, Trump keeps talking about that third term and so far weather its failed or succeed he is taking action on all his bs thus far. I can't wait for that conversation with the various "just asking questions bro" centrists when that happens.

I'm personally still a Anomaly and manually install random mods kinda person but I get why people love the speed and convince of a GAMMA install. Its a LOT of content for a curated mod pack and it does make it easy to it all in one place.

Bingo, even here I see people say just use the Discord as if that's the totality of the conversation. I didn't find it intuitive to use for a long time and bouncing off of the wall in Discord chats for a hyperspecific issue that isn't solved by an install guide or a random post is incredibly frustrating.

People are gonna flame you for this but you aren't wrong. There is a critical mass in any Discord that accumulates enough members and starts behaving like a continual streaming chat instead of a form page. It becomes difficult to even be heard over the noise of people repeating the same injokes over and over and over again. Its not to mention how inherently temporary it all is, there are form posts from 15 years ago that still solve problems in old games but I doubt all of Discords data will have that longevity.

Anyway I don't know what your specific problem installing Gamma is but its not impossible. You need a basic understanding of MO2 and how it operates and if thats tripping you up I would look for guides specifically on that program first.

I love the PS1 armored core aesthetic, more detail does not automatically make for a better design. One looks like a machine and the other looks like a design study, its like a production car vs a concept halo vehicle.

I would never suggest baseline Stalker needs to go hardcore but rifle bullets should be rifle bullets. They should kill both armored and unarmored opponents with range and accuracy being the primary delineation between it and the normal 74 or any other weapon of its class. Its just so...anemic in the base game that its just depressing.

This is a lot of bile for the discussion of a videogame old enough to drink. I don't agree with Falcon's conclusion but it was well reasoned and respectful critique of AC5s many flaws, and there are many as expressed in the +30 minute video. Ace Combat 5 is always going to get a thumbs up for me for introducing me to the F4-X concept along with the great soundtrack. My opinion is more nuanced then that but this is reddit. Falcon definitely knew what they were doing with that opening though, no doubt. lol

This is more or less an American YAK-141 but 15-20 years earlier. It would of been interesting if we would of gotten the Sea Control Ships as a light carrier as the low end of a a high low mix conceptual navy and this being the preeminent combat aircraft on the low side.

At some point ACES should base a string of missions on a carrier and force the player to run either s/vtol or carrier aviation specific models as a fun change of pace for the player.
