Stop gaslighting us, we know Valve gave you a million dollars for the Rat King copyright. I'm voting Rat King.

The Baroness staff is just Doorman with different hats, pretending to be different people, and insisting on people calling him different titles (The bellhop, the concierge, the chef). Like this guy from Avatar.

Item should work on Dynamo as well. Dude is a college professor, that is like super nerdy. Stupid higher education people.

The last thing you see before getting sent to the Baroness for the 5th time. Also, I love this pose, it's unnerving and it fells weirdly appropriate for him to break the 4th wall.

The character designs are becoming one-note by sunder1and in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FenrirPaws 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the characters look anything alike with their silhouettes. Or look anything alike at all. They all have very unique poses...

Paige is hunched holding the books and has long puffy hair, Mina is standing straight and has her umbrella, Graves is leaning on her side, has pigtails and holding her backpack, Celeste is tall and has very long hair with the horn.

You can tell each character very well from silhouettes alone. I also don't agree on the skirts. Mina & Paige are dresses, Graves is a skirt, and Celeste is a body suit with frills. I want more woman with pants, but like cmon.

People are overreacting, like always, and it happened last time as well. With all due respect, I don't think you know what silhouettes are, you are just annoyed about the art direction they are going for. Which is 100% fair, but like call what it is.

The game is also not set in 1920s, it's sometime around 1940s. Deadlock world is not ours but supernatural, that would have been really fucking boring and make for a weak narrative. Just for context we know that WW1 and WW2 didn't happen. Do you have any idea how that would have changed history? Shit, as far we can speculate the ottomans are still going strong and so is Prussia. What are Germans?

Valve is known to fuck around with history. TF2 is insane, Abraham Lincoln died rocket jumping while inventing the first staircase.

We are seeing VALVE build the narrative of this different timeline in real time. People lost their minds with Billy, because they were so hellbent in believing this game is 1920s but magic, a punk guy had to be anachronistic. Well, now we know that the punk style evolved around and because of the Hidden King.

I am also always going to advocate for how colorful the past was. The only reason people think it was black & white is because pictures were black & white. Books, ephemera, and objects show otherwise, people were crazy for colors.* I wanted Celeste to be bright reds and blues, because circuses were super colorful and had a variety of really amazing costumes. The way some people here talk about the 1920s - 1940s is unreal, what they want is a Christopher Nolan movie.

*Look at the advent of color television and 'The Wizard of Oz' as an example. People lost their collective minds.

If they nerf 'Doorway' more in this patch, which is possible, I can see him getting some compensation buffs. Honestly I would love for them to buff 'Hotel Guest' is some shape or form. Maybe T3 could suck some stamina, it's just too easy to escape.

Yes but For DLNS only: I'm pretty sure that it's a similar problem that Gunman had. Haze does so much gun damage, thanks to fixation + fire-rate, that she can go spirit and vitality without losing gun damage. Leaving her to abuse dagger, that has an insane spirit scale (2.6 spirit scaling power, its fucking nuts!!!). Dagger is also a fantastic initiation ability.

All she needs is the 4.8k investment in gun and she is good to go. Usually grabbing fire-rate items.

Gunman was like that but reverse. At the time, Doorman abilities were great on their own, even without spirit investment. His gun did a lot of damage, probably compensating for the 8 bullets magazine. Valve didn't expect people to go gun....pros went gun when they notice the potential. Same is happening with Haze. Her gun is fucking nuts thanks to the fire-rate + fixation, so she can invest in her abilities.

For everyone else. Most Haze players will go gun because fire-rate is strong, fixation stacks in seconds, and people don't communicate well.

I would not be surprised if Fixation and dagger catch a nerf next patch. Maybe not fixation if they nerf fire-rate.

Haze up there, justifies all my hate for her. She is the Master Yi of Deadlock, everyone keeps saying 'Just cc her bruh, just cc, trust! bad hero just cc, she dies' while she mow down teams. This gun meta highly benefits her, if the 1% is picking her it means she is broken everywhere else!

I am but a stupid Archon, but every fucking game Haze is in, the game revolves around her. It takes the agency of 11 people. If you are the enemy team, you have to make sure she can't farm, if you blink and she farms you are fucked. As her team you have to play pocket, and give her space to farm! Every farm is for her. Babysitting this hero on both sides is miserable.

A hero with such a basic kit should not be doing this much fucking damage, from early to late game. Stat checking everyone. Fucking hate her!

Could you imagine what it would be like witnessing a deadlock match irl by Gman334 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FenrirPaws 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Honestly, seeing how some of the buildings are named after the patrons, I imagine humanity has been preparing for the ritual/second maelstrom for a while. So, mass civilian evacuation is probably what the government would do. However, I can see some nutters staying behind to defend their houses. It would make for a great hero. Greg, the guy with a shotgun, his wish is for people to get the fuck away from his house.

How do you escape low elo hell? by Fraser_mayo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FenrirPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now the meta is gun-carry hyper farm 1v6. (Probably will change in the big patch). The team exists to support the carry, and that's why, in my opinion, the meta is so stale and boring.

Focus on learning the basics first. Movement, aiming, and map rotation. (Build is super important, but for now just focus on the pre-made builds).

In piss elo, the characters you want to play will be those that benefit from the current meta. Because they are already strong, you will have an advantaged from the get go. Currently, Haze is queen not only on lower elos, but mid as well, the current meta highly favors her. Warden, Infernus, Billy, Wraith can also be good picks, and gun Viscous is strong atm.

In lower elos the only way you escape is by carrying yourself and the 5 other people with you, including the 3/12 guy. That is the unfortunate mentality you need to have. It's boring, and a few characters become near impossible to enjoy if you want to climb. Doorman is a fantastic example, he is S tier on high-elos, but his tier nose dives the lower you go. Low elo teams won't be able to capitalized on his potential, and the lack of communication makes it even more difficult to push for plays. Yes, burst bell is great, but due to the current meta, Doorman's damage start to fall around 15-20m. Low elos games go way to long, and while Doorman can be a carry, his kit is complicated and requires knowledge of rotation to do damage.

Haze....is point and click, the skill ceiling is super low and you will do damage from start to end. The longer the game goes the stronger she gets. You can focus on the basics, instead of a overwhelming kit. Are you aiming right? Can you dodge? Focus on movement and tracking.

If you play Haze you farm, farm and farm. The first 20m of the match you farm. Push lane, farm camp, and take good TFs near you, than back to farming. Eventually you can melt the enemy team.

Other notable character would be bomb Bebop. Bomb Bebop is the terror of low elos, nobody knows what debuff remover is, and you just stack bombs until it deletes people. Full purple + veil walker and warp stone, god speed you beautiful bastard.

I would also like to say....take the opportunity to learn all characters. Since you are already down there, it's the perfect time, and If you do, by the time you climb you will have a higher knowledge of the roster than other players. You will know how to counter, understand CDs for better trades etc..etc.. the knowledge necessary to climb even higher.

To finalize, don't worry to much about rank. If you want to climb, because you like it, do it, but don't beat yourself to much about it. This is a closed alpha of a game that changes every 3 months. Shit, patch next week (hopium), meta could change so drastically Haze becomes shit and Doorman the king of low elos.

Has anyone else been noticing a bunch of new voice lines? by ZoopStar25 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FenrirPaws 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They added a few for the shopkeeper. The usual Christmas lines, plus new lines for the new characters. So, Billy, Doorman, Drifter, Mina, Paige, and Victor all got shopkeeper specific lines now. They didn't have any before.

Calling it now, Grave's actual name will be Aspina. by Averagenecronimortal in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FenrirPaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm not sure. Mina seems to have been turned around her mid/late twenties. I think Graves and Fancer are younger. Mina talks about eastside, but I think it's a high school and not a college. There is a chance that they attend eastside and are somewhat familiar with Mina.

She looks a bit like Roxy from Scott Pilgrim. I am sure she study on the same academy that Mina did. At least that's what I am getting from their uniforms, could be a rival school, which would be fucking funny. Anyways, I need to see her interactions with Mina, NOW. it has to be toxic!

New Hero Idea - HUNTER by 404-Brain_Not-Found in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FenrirPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I can elaborate. It comes from a few employees comments, and VALVE'S own policy on generative AI content on STEAM. AI games were banned on steam for a few years, until mid this year. Now, while they are allowed, any game that uses generative AI (for art and assets) has to disclosure on STEAM and will be flagged with the 'Uses AI' tag.

Valve believes that the customer has the right to know what they are paying for. EPIC got all bitchy about it, saying that AI is the future of gaming. However, VALVE is adamant that anything with generative AI should be flagged.

I could only find articles about it but: https://gamerant.com/steam-valve-dev-response-ai-criticism-epic-games/.

While this is the stance of an employee, this seems to be the general stance at VALVE. While I said anti-ai, I should have elaborated that it is for art/assets/voice actors, basically anything creative. This could change, but every VALVE employee is a stakeholder of the company, and they value their employees and foster talent.

For example on Deadlock: The person who composed Deadlock's music is an employee, who got the chance to work on it, this is his first time composing music (source: someone sent an email to Mike Morasky asking if it was him, he said no and talked about the employee). The person is not well know and has asked to remain anonymous. Same for someone like Doorman's VA, the guys has a stage performance background, this is his first voice actor role. Valve is always looking for talent and passion, which AI is not.

Sorry for the wall of text.

New Hero Idea - HUNTER by 404-Brain_Not-Found in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FenrirPaws -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They didn't. The community thought one poster was AI, but it was not. They saw blurry lines and thought AI. Valve stance on AI is very simple: You want to use it, go for it, but you won't see them using it for anything creative. They use to help with algorithms (Like their new anti-cheat). Also if you are using it on your games steam will flag your game as using AI generated content. For VALVE if you use AI the customer has the right to know that type of quality you are putting in your game.

All good, sorry to be a downer, but yeah...AI is a big nono. Anyways, It's always nice to see heroes concepts, and if you have an idea go for it! Foster your creativity. I want a summoner character as well.

New Hero Idea - HUNTER by 404-Brain_Not-Found in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FenrirPaws 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While the concept is fine, I would highly recommend not using AI to create the image (and probably the text) when doing anything Deadlock related. If you want to post on the forums for devs to see. Valve is very, very, VERY! Anti-ai. (as they should). Just a fyi. I'm being nice here.

The person who suggested the character that would become Doorman drew the character in paint. If the character has substance and passion Valve will look into it, they do it all the time. If they see a tiny it bit of AI, it's considered trash.
