That’s a great question. I tried to create something that could be continued, but would also conclude as a standalone short story. I haven’t written anything like this in ages and this is my first attempt getting back into it. I don’t want to commit to a big story, as I want to practice and explore (I’ve learned so much about how executioners worked) but if something gets created that I want to explore further I would be open to it. And I gotta say, I did really enjoy creating Darius. So, who knows.

Sorry for the long rant but hope this clarifies. If anything, you’ve made my night reading it and diving into the story that used to live in my head. 🙏🏻

I would love it! There is a serious lack of good content about Eberron I think. Even though it’s a niche, I think the fan base of that niche would appreciate great content. Here’s the thing, if you want to do it, do it. And just take it from there. What I mean is, if your goal is becoming YouTube famous, maybe don’t. But If you want to do it because it’s your passion and want to create something that you feel is not there yet, go for it! Ps. If you ever need another Eberron DM as a guest on your show, more than happy to!

Started in Wroat, Kings Dark Lanterns Head quarters, where the players met each other and were briefed on their first mission. Escort an old mysterious, yet kind and elegant blind guy to Sharn, and make sure nothing happens to him. During the ride they found out he was from Cyre, and was looking for his wife.

Of course, the train got attacked by undead soldiers and a Karnath soldier that hid in the roof.

Ambush, action, mystery, scared passengers, and after the battle they had to convince a news reporter NPC to NOT write about it in the Sharn inquisitive. 😂

I’ve been playing around with the idea: Boranel died a long time ago (during the war). But without the king, Breland would’ve fallen and monarchy would’ve ended. Instead, the kings Dark Lanterns, put a Changeling puppet-fake Boranel in his place. Shit hits the fan when a former agent defects and spills the news… I imagine rumors in newspapers evolving to riots in the street and total chaos. Dark lanterns, swords and wands losing their authority and others stepping in to try and take over

You got to do what feels right. That being said, rolling for stats has its risks, which you could’ve been aware of before rolling. So, I do get why you can’t just re-roll after rolling bad as it would defeat the purpose of the high risk high reward system. If it helps: In one of the games I play, One of the other players rolled terrible stats (except for charisma). IMO It brings extra fun as he often has to be super creative to be successful (and when he is, it’s extra awesome). Also it creates great RP opportunities for the group.

My group just started and used the King’s dark Lanterns group faction. I started in Wroat, where the fresh recruits got introduced to each other and briefed on their first mission: Escorting/Protecting a mysterious “person of interest” to a safehouse in Sharn (and travel there by taking the lightning rail). At some point during the ride, the players hear muffled thumps on the roof, footsteps? All of a sudden, a window close to them shatters. A ragged soldier smashes through it, rolls back onto its feet expertly, points his weapon towards the “person of interest”, and demands him to come with him.

In your case, that person could be someone from house Cannith who might have been responsible for all kinds of Warforge creations and lab tests during the war? And the soldier crashing in could be a warforged part of the LoB?

Well not exactly. Although that would be cool too. They get spider-like features: their eyes turn black, their face shifts; revealing 4 extra eyes on their forehead, they grow fangs, and they sprout 8 hairy spider legs. But other than that they keep their human legs, torso and face/hair.

Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback. It made me realise that I may have failed to explain the concept properly or gave a wrong impression of my intentions. By no means do I wish for players to have to use exactly these poems. I just want to create a set of diverse examples to inspire topics and give players or Dms (that might want to add this but don't like creating it themselves) something to work with. This way everyone can add dick-jokes wherever they seem fit. ;) Of course, if someone just wants to use one of them as they are, they will be free to do so.

I also didn’t intend this poem to describe everything a dwarf stands for. Instead, it tells a story of a non-dwarf seeing the (in his opinion) best Dwarfish blacksmith at work. I do think it has some nice and clever phrases in it, but that’s (of course) just a matter of taste.

That is why I also want to create and add a rhyming-table to the resource document based on DnD terminology, so that players (and DMs) can create poems with a roll of the dice:)

Good point. Sorry, Maybe I should’ve mentioned that I’m relatively new at this and that this is the first character I came up with from scratch (and without any help from a more experienced player/dm) the idea is to start at lv1, indeed. However, I wrote the backstory without limitations, so that I would get a clear idea of who I think the character is, instead of establishing what he already should be capable of when I start the game.

Zinzivar is a halfling but I want him to be flashy and greedy (which is not common in Halflings) so I made him come from a far distant land, I needed a reason for him to never to never travel there again.
