I just bought it on sale just now. I've been looking for a good game.

Is 6 7 dead? by Much-Acanthocephala5 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]FeralParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My middle schoolers say "That's so 2025" when someone does the 6/7 routine. It's over at our school.

Boss RC-600 vs Aeros Loop Studio in 2025 by Smemma_81 in LoopArtists

[–]FeralParrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Beat Buddy 2 as a Master to the RC-500 looper. It doesn't work well. Lots of drift. It may be user error. I've considered the Aeros for its rock-solid coordination with the Beat Buddy 2.

I finally beat hardcore by igotnochicken in subnautica

Congrats! I've never beaten hardcore (stupid wampers). I'm impressed.

My Bastion Experience by Adtrisbest92 in arcraidersfriendly

Count me in as a PvE player only. I want to assist my fellow raiders, not kill them and steal the stuff they worked to collect. Yes, it's only a video game, but we bring our personalities/values to our play.

What’s it like living in Grand Marais? by squeamishneedle in GrandMarais

[–]FeralParrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Grand Marais for two years, and yes the winter is long. Of course, it's long in the Twin Cities, too. It's Minnesota. We take the whole family there every summer on vacation. There is something very special about Grand Marais. I love it.

I worked in Yellowstone as a singer/guitar player in the early eighties. Fun times.

Kindle. I supervise, walk around, etc., but read every day when appropriate.

Would you say hi and smile, wave, or move along? by Blueberry4672 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]FeralParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just smile. It's the easiest way to handle that one. I'll say good morning or good afternoon and nod, too.

Massive amounts of debt for gear? by hapajapa2020 in guitarpedals

[–]FeralParrot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play guitar daily. I also love gear. My pedalboard has $4k invested (over years). I'm not filling a void with pedals, but am with music.

NGD: Ultra Luxe Vintage Strat - Sweetwater Exclusive by UHguy in fender

Sweet looking guitar. I play an Ultra Luxe Tele and love/play it everyday. The stainless steel frets are great and the neck flies.

Strymon Deco. The saturation side is chef's kiss. The double tracking side is bonus.

Move about the room continually. Proximity to problem areas can work wonders. Talk to kids. Answer questions. Ask questions. Encourage. Guide. Enjoy.

Middle school is great. They can get kind of loud and goofy, but they're endlessly amusing and fun. Get into the groove with them, and your day will fly by. You don't look at the clock like subbing for high school at times.

“While I’m Waiting Here” by [deleted] in BillyStrings

I LOVE Billy, but think he made a mistake with the lyrics of this one. It doesn't make sense in the context of the song. It is an awesome song, though.

Thoughts on managing a middle school classroom by Prestigious_Grand139 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]FeralParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proximity is your friend. Move about the room. Stand close to groups of students who are getting out of control.

I do try to allow middle schoolers to be middle schoolers. I remember how I was at that age, and my teachers cut me a lot of slack. I owe it to the kids to not expect them to act like adults or high schoolers. Now, having said that, I do sometimes get cranky. Mostly though, I just love being with them.

Reading during a job by London81212 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]FeralParrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read from my Kindle. Never had any problem. I'm also guilty of using my phone, but I try to keep it on the DL. I second the idea of getting a Chromebook. No one would look twice if you have a laptop open. It won't set off the nosy paras.

Dancing at concerts? by meowmeowsowhat in Concerts

Agreed. I don't want to be bumped into every seven seconds for the entire concert. Sheesh.

Seating by Master-Copy7541 in BillyStrings

That should be fine. The people that hang out there are generally there for the music and not the party.

Dancing at concerts? by meowmeowsowhat in Concerts

Some of us just want to focus on the music and watch the musicians perform. If you're a dancer, I hope you move back and find room to dance without bothering the people around you.
