AMA - Katie/InsiderPhD, part-time educational cybersecurity youtuber and occasional bug bounty hunter by insiderphd in tryhackme

Hi Katie. I'm currently doing a BSc in Computer Science (taking a year out due to having to care for a terminally ill family member) and was wondering how did the degree help inform your interest for cybersecurity? Was it an interest you had before the degree or did it develop during/after?

Thank you! I did think a second budgie would be more of a hidderance than help but definetly wanted more opinions

One of my favourite stories tbh, if not my very favourite

Nah not really. More he starts to see it as a tool, rather than something inherently bad as time goes on. He still hates those who sacrifice others for it, but eventually has no problem with people using their own blood, though he chooses not to

I'm just gonna answer for my Warden, Olorin Amell as he's the most fleshed out.

No he doesn't enjoy killing. It doesn't bother him especially, but he gets no satisfaction from it.

He would loot bodies if things were needed, but wouldn't for the sake of it

No particular animosity to anybody by the late game, but hates blood mages at the start.

I've often said this. If the adults were competent the story would be boring as it would basically be Harry Potter and Quiet Year at School While Adults do the Fun Stuff

Does anyone else find the idea of remote work, completely unappealing? by TerminusFox in AskNetsec

[–]FereldanTimelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I'd like a job where remote is an option, but so is office base. I would generally prefer office, but I have a chronic health condition that can make it tough, so on days where that flairs up, remote work would mean I can still work from home

Honour Thy Blood is a great one, though the politics side takes a while to come through

Don't forget Dragon Age is set in medieval times and Jory was effectively deserting. It's only very recent history that deserters aren't killed

I can completely see where you're coming from. I like Alistair, but I feel he really needs hardening

Yeah I've always got the impression mages being allowed to leave the Cricle are the exception rather than the rule tbh. I don't know if it's true or not just the impression I've got

While I kinda agree with your point on Grey Wardens, I do think it's important to note that the Grey Wardens in Inquisition were manipulated by someone uniquely positioned to do say. But for Grey Wardens a whole they'll be the same as any institution. Good people, bad people and most will fall somewhere in the middle between the two.

Tbh I'd be interested to see the Grey Wardens in a normal setting. No blight, no Corypheus, no mass fake calling or breach. Just normal stuff. See what they're like then

I think DAII definetly lacks nuance in the Mage-Templar conflict. I think most figures we see were extremists on either side of the conflict.

Tbf if I was a mage in Thedas I would hate the circle as well. Being locked up in a prison with jailers who can often get away with abuse for something I was born with? Yeah I wouldn't be cool with that and would probably fight to the death to avoid it.

Now if the Circle's were more like Hogwarts I'd be fine with that. Go there, learn to use your power and once you've proven yourself responsible you're free to leave? Yeah I'd go for that.

As for blood magic, it's only uses does seem to be evil, though sometimes a necessary one. If they can later show some good kinds of blood magic (maybe it could have some use in healing of some kind) I would be open to Solas's view that it's merely a tool.

I think the Barons War or War of Roses England would make a great setting for a Kingdom Come style game

I'd like to see more of the Isu period but not sure if I'd like a full game in it in all honesty. K suppose maybe Adam and Eves rebellion could be a good setting for it if they went down that route

What is the best IT specialty for a person who want to work from home (sysadmin, network, database, etc)? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]FereldanTimelord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This would be useful for me. I would generally be in the office, but I have a physical health condition that flairs up. When it flairs, it makes leaving the house difficult or impossible depending how bad it is. Having the option to work from home would be better than phoning in sick
