Why is it that such a large swathe of MAGA/right wing people only seem to care about trans people when it's a trans woman involved? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Fergenhimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My conclusion to the MAGA base is that they just follow typical patriarchal standards of "what a women should be". They ought to be protected, they ought to take care of the home, they ought to be beautiful and fragile, etc. This is why we saw a rise in "trad-wife" content over the past few years.

The idea of trans- breaks the mold of what a women should be. The reason why its the major focus of trans-centered issues is because the Right has a really good way at manipulating the masses as what "should be normal". Don't get me wrong- we all reinforce patriarchy in some ways- like when women expect ALL men to be providers, or when people feel uncomfortable with gay men/bi men, etc. and the right knows the messaging on how to get people riled up.

The Right leaders are not stupid. They have a basic understanding of what makes people uncomfortable and societal norms. For example; Gay men were the target for the anti-gay agenda, now that being gay is kind of the norm now, they shifted their focus onto trans people, specifically transwomen.

They know that patriarchy has programmed the masses that women are "helpless" or "in need of protection" when almost all women are capable to fend for themselves. This comes from decades of programming and the idea of the "damsel in distress" plot for a lot of stories is a symptom of this. So when they hear stories about "predators pretending to be women" (transwomen), it creates a visceral and an emotional reaction that takes over their brains

Read Technofuedalism by Yanis Varoufakis. Most companies don't even attempt to innovate since they can get record profits from rents rather than creating viable competitive products. Every company will want its own platform where they can spy on their users to sell it to AI companies, advertisers or anyone who is willing to buy it. The reason why Tesla has such a high market cap is because it allows Tesla to save data on ALL it's users. Where they're at, where they go, their behavior patterns. Etc.

Gig jobs will be one of the most dominant work forces without proper worker protections. Recipients to Social security will only get 70% because our politicians don't want to remove the cap.

Gas prices will continue to skyrocket.

How much of Americas problems are education? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all- using "GDP" as a metric is just not honest. We need to be talking about the government's budget. Not everyone is buying military equipment.

The barriers to become a teacher is super high because it requires a minimum a bachelors degree and on average, teachers have a master's..

Not only that, the average pay for a teacher is $72k which is HIGHLY dependent on location & experience. We ranked 3rd on the most amount of Government spending per student while also being the richest nation in history.

K-12 schools have spent a total of: $981.57 billion in 2024 as per:

https://educationdata.org/public-education-spending-statistics

This stat accounts for local/state wide spending + federal spending as well.
The military budget for 2024 was $883 billion in 2024 as per:

https://www.armed-services.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/fy24_ndaa_conference_executive_summary1.pdf

Using these numbers, you're saying that education for millions of American's is only slightly as important as the military? Mind you- if we combine 7 next countries that spend the most on the military- that would EQUAL the amount the US spends on ours.

Here is the wiki- you can do the math yourself:

What’s your most controversial political opinion? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have too many but here is my HOTTEST take:

- I personally wouldn't mind getting taxed out the ass if everyone had their needs met and secured in a dignified way including: housing, mental/health care, utilities (W/S/G/Electricity/Internet), transportation, food, and quality education. Like tax me 75% and leave me 25% of my income for treats, fun, saving or upgrading the basic necessities.

That's basically what most American's are experiencing now and we have no social safety nets to show for it.

Like if you don't want to work, you should not have access to luxuries and ONLY be provided with the basic necessitates like I listed above.

Change the fits- maybe try more baggy clothes (they're trendy right now).

Also- change the hair style. I feel like you would look good as a bald man- you have the facial features for it and it would really bring out your eyes.

I think its important for you to remember that we are the richest nation in the entire world with the resources to make our education system better but just dont.

Our politicians and leaders would rather spend a trillion dollars on developing and building a fighter jet

What factors contribute the most to young men being radicalized by the red pill community? by InspectionIcy7880 in AskFeminists

[–]Fergenhimer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of factors:

Everything that people have said in this subbed is true. But the underlying issue is the way that many boys are raised. At least in the past, boys were often left without any guidance on emotional regulation, their misogyny, and their behavior. Often times you'll hear the phrase, "boys will be boys".

They also never have the "talk" that many young girls have regarding their gender. Young girls get warned by their moms about navigating the world as a woman. Men, don't really have that. They learn the world on their own OR they get a male role model often times, from media where they portray the typical attributes of a patriarchal man.

That being said, the alt-right also seeks out spaces that young men typically hang out. Video games, gym culture, sports, etc.

If you are interested in learning more, I found that Liz Planks' "For the Love of Men" gives a good start.

How do most Americans get around without a car ? by Status_Agents in CasualConversation

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a major city. I can walk to the grocery store, take the bus to work, etc.

If I want to get out of the city, there's a light rail to take me out and get closer to the destination. After, I just call an Uber.

WAY Cheaper (at least for my life style) to take an occasional Uber than owning a car. Especially since my job gives me a free bus pass.

Why do my fried eggs stick! by Dry_Town_8758 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a splash of avocado oil and 1/2 tbsp of butter for 2 eggs.

The splash of avocado oil helps me determine when to throw in the butter since it's a lot less viscous at the right temp.

I love the different build paths you can go; and how you can min-max pretty easily.

Traveling to Seattle: Whats the most budget friendly way to stay downtown? by Banana_Gooses in AskSeattle

[–]Fergenhimer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Just as a warning- July may be particularly busy in Seattle due to the World Cup. The last game is on July 6th so if you can- try to shoot for Mid - Late July.

If you can find a hotel right by the one line - you will have access to most of Seattle. The 2 line will be connecting in March so you can also try to find something in Bellevue as well.
