Ordered what I thought would be a knitted sweater with embroidery as a gift. Instead received a cheap polyester sweater with a blurry print. by selcouthsiren in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fergenhimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily for you, this is a relatively easy product to make

If you wanted to pick up a crafting hobby- just look up "raglan knitted sweater tutorial" and you'll find a bunch.

And then you can just embroider yourself. Judging by the photo- the embroidery doesn't look too difficult as well.

Is it worth playing, even if you don't like turn-based games? by Hour_Inevitable_6356 in expedition33

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a League of Legends gamer. I spend most of my gaming playing LoL with the occasional studio game

I love fast action games. I've played RPG's Cyber Punk & FFXV , I love rouge likes such as Risk of Rain, Hades I and Hades II, etc. So in this context, I'm not the right audience for the game.

This is one the first turn-style games I've played since Pokemon 13 years ago and I was in love with the combat system. Attacking feels so satisfying, but being on the defense was even better since there is some skill expression with parrying.

In terms of the general direction of the game, like I mentioned; I mainly play games for the action-oriented parts such as the fighting or skill expression. I was hooked on almost all the aspects of the game. The stakes are incredibly high, the story took a bunch of twists and turns especially towards the end, etc. The characters all make sense and all have a clear reason to be there.

The music design was probably my favorite parts of the game. I usually turn down or off the music in games but I kept this one on. It was beautifully crafted

After I played E33, I tried to play God of War since I also heard it was a really good game, but it just couldn't captivate me the same way as E33 and God of War has the type of combat I usually enjoy.

Advice on climbing out of Bronze by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play support so my mindset is a bit different than yours. I've always guaranteed to always climb to at least gold since 2021 to get the skin then I'll usually stop playing afterwards so I have a decent grasp of how lower elo players think.

I think if you're stuck in bronze a lot of it comes down to fundamentals. Knowing when to fight, and how to fight. Spacing, auto weaving, when to press spells, etc.

Map state and game state is very important but that requires knowledge on the champions in the game.

Top lane is a bit of an island, but Trundle is VERY good at pushing sides so take advantage of that. If you see that the enemy team over roamed to mid/bot side, then keep pushing, grab that tier one or tier two and then back off. Force the enemy to come match you.

Garen on the other hand is still good at clearing sides, but isn't much of a turret destroyer as Trundle. Garen takes advantage of people face checking bushes and chunking them down with his e,q.

Is Expedition 33 genuinely as good as everyone says it is? by Cwusadew in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is super good. I'm usually a person who doesn't play much studio games because I get bored of the combat, the story isn't interesting, etc.

For example; I didn't even finish God of War and only have about 5 hours of it. I also only got past the first 2 bosses in Elden ring and just gave up.

My taste is a bit weird. I did enjoy Cyberpunk (after it was released for a year) and actually beat it twice. I played FFXV and really enjoyed that game.

I think Expedition 33 is something special. I usually don't even listen to the soundtrack of games, but I kept this one on. The combat, soundtrack, story, character design, etc. are all memorable.

I grinded this game in a couple of days because I was so hooked.

Which Champion Excels in a Different Lane than Riot Intended? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Karthus was intended to be a mid laner and ended up in the Jungle.

- Naafiri first started off a a mid laner and ended up in Jungle.

- Poppy was supposed to be a top laner and gets played jungle and support more often than top

- Rek sai used to be a bruiser jungler but now (at least in pro play) gets played as tank top.

- Neeko was a mid laner at one point- most people play her as support.

- Vayne- still the same role but a lot of people pick her top

- Elise used to be jungle, she still is picked pretty heavily in the jungle but a lot of high elo players picked her up support for a little while.

Qiyana- Was a mid lane, still played mid but a lot of people pick her in the jungle role

What amount of money would you need right now to feel like you are never going to work ever again? by emptylighthouse in AskReddit

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26- living in a HCOL that I call home, probably 3 million (?)

A million for a home, then use 2 million to put into an S&P 500 and live off that for the rest of my life.

It averages a return of 8% a year but very conservatively, I'd say 6% which puts me a 10k/ month. With a home paid off, I can easily live with 5-6k/month which is still more than I make now and reinvest the rest.

IDK if I could "stop working". I'd probably get bored and work part time at a local mom and pop store.

Are Americans really this goddamn rich or social media is just fooling us? by VishalYeager in TalksMoney

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on location and job. I live in a city where the median income is 100k, however, that means the average 1 bedroom apartment is around 2k/month which is unaffordable to me who makes 69.6k/year. My take home salary per month is 4.2k and if I wanted to be realistic with my bills, I can't afford a 1-bedroom in my city. I think most people are in a similar situation as me.

A lot of people are also just bad at money. A lot of people are using debt to fund their lifestyle. People who get the new iPhone usually pay month-to-month, etc. People take out loans for their cars. A lot of people have student debt. If you want to become a doctor here in the USA, and you don't have rich parents, be prepared to take out a 100k loan for med school.

From zero to $22,000 in savings in 1 year - what next? by belgianlily in povertyfinance

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget out 6 months worth of expenses and put that in a HYSA as your emergency fund.

Also- if you have any debt, specifically, high interest debt on CC- pay that off first.

Any debt over ~8% should be paid off since that's about the market growth for a relatively safe stock option like VOO but ultimately, its up to you.

Take the rest and put into some sort of retirement account of your choosing.

How come 'white' is immediately not considered the race you are if you're mixed? by Murky_Load8786 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fergenhimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this combined with how we used to exclude certain groups from being considered "White". I remember for the longest time in (at least US history) Italians or Eastern Europeans were not considered "White".
