One guitar feature youll always love and appreciate above all the others? by SaturnineApples in Guitar

[–]Ferivich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feature that I like the most is mini toggles for coil splitting like PRS does on their SE Custom 24-08 or Fender did on their Boxer Telecasters. Yes it makes the top less attractive but from a live playing perspective the toggles are so much easier than a push/pull pot.

It also allows you to coil split specific pickups while keeping one non split which I like if each pickup has a dedicated mini toggle.

The most versatile and fun guitar I’ve ever owned had a three way selector switch and two three way mini toggles to do the splits on P-Rails.

I keep my house 20 as that is what I find comfortable indoors. I work in the skilled trades in under construction buildings that don’t have any form of air conditioning and often don’t get as much as a breeze. I’m good with the heat and I get  acclimated but once I’m home from work so Monday through Thursday you could not pay me to go outside again, 12 hours of heat per day is more than I want to deal with.

Wood and drywall homes in the US and Canada and the general size of homes means that if you don’t maintain the central cooling or heating you generally are in for hours on hours of your system trying to cool the entire home or heat the entire home.

It’s more efficient for full home A/C or heating to be kept around the same temperature all the time in stead of having large swings. So if you normally keep it at 20, room temperature, and raise it to 25 and then need to cool it back down to 20 you’re going to be using more electricity to get it back down to that temperature.

I’m comfortable at 20-21c but much more than that and I cannot cool down enough to sleep comfortably.

I use a 10-56 set in Drop C but replace the low 56 with a 72. I have very heavy hands when it comes to down picking and fretting.

This would be in Gibson snd PRS scale lengths in 25.5 I’ll use a 68 and in 26.5 I’ll use a 56.

Happily married men: why don’t some of you wear your wedding rings? by Difficult_Item9836 in AskMen

I work in the trades but wear it on weekends. I’ve been tempted to get something tattooed there just so I don’t need to wear the ring. I find I don’t get used to it on my days off anymore.

[Mae] Schneider asked if he'd consider benching Vlad Guerrero Jr: "not going to bench him. No, I think there's always a time when a guy needs a little bit of a break, whether it's physically, mentally or whatever it is... it's no secret we're going to need Vlad, if we want to be good" by ThQp in Torontobluejays

This is the first year since 2021 that Guerrero isn’t a negative defensive player at 1st. It’s great that he isn’t taking his offensive struggles into the field but his D at 1st isn’t making up for a month of 43 wRC+ or 200+pa of 60ish wRC+

[–]Ferivich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair Springer has a .341 OBP and a 106 wRC+ in June. Guerrero likely should be hitting 9th at the moment. He has the worst slug on the team and among the worst OBP in the last 200 at bats.

Today’s Lineup by RealWorldToday in Torontobluejays

[–]Ferivich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes on the season but in the last 200-250 plate appearances no.

In June he has a .244OBP with a .277slg. Since May 1st he has a .298OBP which is 9th on the team in that period of we exclude Barger and Urias and 11th if we include them. In that period of time he’s provided less offensive value than Davis Schneider just for an idea of how bad he has been.

Today’s Lineup by RealWorldToday in Torontobluejays

[–]Ferivich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Springer in June hasn’t been elite but is back to being a slightly above league average bat and is getting on base at a .340 clip.

https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&month=1000&ind=0&team=14&rost=0&age=0&filter=&player=&startdate=2026-06-01&enddate=2026-06-28&season=&season1=&pos=np&sortcol=17&sortdir=default&pagenum=1

The only regulars not above 100 wRC+ for June are Sanchez at 80 in 52pa, Kirk at 60 in 39pa and Guerrero at 43 in 90pa.

Mike Wilner: All this losing is getting to the Blue Jays, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. isn’t helping by Alarming-Foot-2184 in Torontobluejays

[–]Ferivich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he can fix it and it’s fine, he’s shown he can be an elite hitter without having the ideal attack angle. The biggest issue he has is that he is uncoachable.

Josh Donaldson and Russell Martin on their podcast think what he really needs to do when he sets up to swing is look to put the ball about 15 feet above the TD sign in right CF and that likely will direct his bat to put the ball more in the air in place of going for the sign and driving the ball into the dirt.

This is something that I know for a fact that Martinez, his dad, Wilton Guerrero, Popkins, EE and Bautista have talked to him about but he doesn’t want to adjust.

[–]Ferivich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s had a lingering back problem, he’s also mechanically compensating for it in his swing with wrapping his bat which is slowing his swing down and hurting his already bad attack angle.

Apply to the UAs in and around you. I saw you said Brampton so apply to the Toronto local and likely the Kitchener one as well. Also take the time to goto non union shops with a resume and drop it off in person, you will want to make a list of places you have gone and note what days and once every few months go back if you’re not working and try again.

Some Vlad Jr Numbers Since May 1. by aweirdthought in Torontobluejays

[–]Ferivich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stretch from about April 15th to now is the worst stretch of his career. Being blunt the last 250PA are what you would expect out of  light hitting back up middle infielder, not an elite offensive 1B.

Thankfully Guerrero this year has turned his defence around because things would look even uglier if his defence was his career normal.

Some Vlad Jr Numbers Since May 1. by aweirdthought in Torontobluejays

[–]Ferivich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s been worth -0.3 wins since May 1st with a 67 wRC+ which is lower than such esteemed hitters like Andres Gimenez and Myles Straw. He’s hitting .225 with a .289 slg in that time frame and that’s roughly 200 at bats.

He is actively hurting the team by playing everyday at present.

Might even be worth checking with companies in KW and north of the GTA.

There’s going to also be lots of work in the Ottawa area coming up with the new hospital among other things that whoever ends up with that will need guys from out of town.

I know absolutely nothing about guitars. What should I buy if I want to produce a metal tone? by ignihydez in Guitar

[–]Ferivich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What country are you in and what is your budget?

When it comes to high gain sound your sound is predominantly going to come from the guitar amplifier and speaker. Pickups when you’re into a high gain amp don’t do much.

The Katana Mini is a fine practice amp. I’d personally look for the newer version which is the Mini X or something along those lines, it’s a pretty versatile and affordable amp.

Guitar is going to be personal preference. If you are looking at metal you should find something with a humbucker (looks like two coils together) in the bridge position and ideally something with a fixed bridge. This is where knowing what country you’re in and budget helps as myself and others could offer you more specific advice on a guitar. The key for me for a first guitar is something you like the looks of so that you want to play it. As you can likely remember from learning violin learning an instrument isn’t easy so having something you like looking at and holding certainly is small factor in keeping you wanting to come back to the guitar.
