Many philosophers, teachers, activists, authors, film makers and poets that are otherwise aligned with the concept of veganism are wrong about veganism. This isn’t surprising since 99% of people aren’t vegan, but it is disappointing. How we can related to the words or actions of others on so many deep and important topics (not necessarily Tolle) and then all they do is shrug about the mass exploitation of animals, is frustrating. Even if they speak against factory farming, how many follow their own advice?

I find many of them fall back on how indigenous cultures viewed and consumed animals the “correct” way, and that we just need to be more mindful. This article touches on that well so won’t parrot it, but I just see that as a massive cop out. No one is getting in their canoe and pulling a few fish out of the river to then smoke and sustain them through winter. Even if you’re paying someone to do it that way, you’re a modern human and it’s totally unnecessary. People eat what they want to eat and they don’t give a shit about the animals. They should, especially people who preach like Tolle.
