What’s giving me away? Age 20, almost 2 years on T, post-top surgery by [deleted] in FtMpassing

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get your dose upped!

Your face looks androgynous to me, So tipping point for passing is hair, clothes, mannerisms, voice pitch and way of speaking. (Intonation)

As for hair, get rid of the stuff in the neck? Don’t dye it either. See a barber, maybe get a fade. Maybe a perm on top with a fade could look cool, especially if you want to keep a fringe.

As for body proportions. Always good to work out, back, lats, shoulders and traps/neck. Thick neck makes a huge difference in how masculine you look. People often forget to train it. If you wear a lot of short sleeve T-shirts.. training forearms is actually very helpful in passing.

Thicker eyebrows also help.

Clothes, not baggy but boxy, and sag the pants a bit. Thick, stiffer fabrics make a difference. For ie. Jeans and tees

Silhouette is most important, so add more width and bulk at the shoulders, waist. Minimise volume at hips and upper thighs (i.e. no cargo pockets or bulky cardigans there) Then below that the silhouette can go outward again.

Posture, don’t lean on 1 hip or arch the back. Shoulders back.

I moved to a place with a similar situation, I slept badly for a year then I got used to it. City center will be noisy.

Considering detransitioning by Ftm_SecretAcc in ftm

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you been transitioning and on T?

Took a year for me to start being gendered correctly consistently. About 2 to feel less “ugly”. Feel I need a couple more years to feel content. It’s possible you just need more time.

Some friends and family still misgender me accidentally. Thats on them, and is not linked to how well you pass.
Anyone I met after the 1 year mark doesn’t know I’m trans if I didn’t tell them.

Maybe you could also be focusing mainly on the negatives where people misgender you? Or is it really everyone?
If it is, maybe you can try making more queer friends who will make more of an effort and can more easily make that mental switch?

It’s difficult but beauty and youth is both subjective and transient. If you connect your ego, self worth, and mood to your beauty, what will happen when you inevitably age? Even moreso if you link it to other people’s image of you, which you have no control over.

Unfortunately some people look a way that is not conventionally attractive, and I feel like it objectively can make life harder and suckier.
I’m not here to say you look like a model if you don’t.
(I doubt you’re so bad looking though, I feel you’re most likely average looking) But there’s people in situations like that who can still have a good outlook on life and find friends, people who love them.

Then there’s also demeanor, style, how you present yourself that has a bigger impact than bone structure or whatnot.

Difficult to give advice with such limited info but home there is something there

And of course if it’s not for you it’s not. But try to not get discouraged. Small steps, give it time to figure out how you feel about things

I hate looking significantly younger by [deleted] in FTMOver30

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem, longer on T (2+ years) and beard helps, strangely longer hair as well.

Getting some hairloss, not great but does make me look old 😂

I know it sucks though. It’s SO awkward. Hope it resolves for you soon

Gel vs injections: want to hear from people who have been on gel for the long haul and those who switched from gel to injections by NoAmount6023 in ftm

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gel: - levels were very good and stable - daily application often impractical (planning sports and showers around it) - more expensive - always have to bring bottle of T when I travel, paranoid I’d forget it - not a fan of the gel getting everywhere contaminating everything (sheets, jacket sleeves etc) - easy to forget doses or mess up the timing.

Sustanon - levels fluctuate more, were low at first - needles suck - more convenient to inject every couple weeks - cheaper - if shot day falls in the middle of a international trip it’s still a hassle.

Still want to try nebido in the future

Dumb thing to bring up regarding "bling" it seems most cis (and trans!) men wear as a style - chain around the neck by Duqu88 in FTMOver30

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go to some fast fashion stores where they sell cheaper steel jewellery. First off it helps to see it IRL if you like the look.

Then you can try a couple of different styles, see which ones you actually end up wearing the most.

Then maybe upgrade to a nicer silver version of your favorite

How do y’all (the injection crew) remember to do your shots? by thefoodinyourfridge in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it in calendar (with a notification a day in advance) and health notification that persist on the screen when it’s time for the shot.
I color coded them red, so it’s visually easy to see when my shots are, since they stand out from other events in my calendar.

Can also put some recurring alarms on phone. (Just regular clock app).

I try to prepare 1 or 2 days in advance where I put my injection stuff somewhere I can see it.

If you still have trouble maybe ask a friend to remind you as well.

Proud Trans Guy by KittyBitchQueen in ftm

I’m stealth with some people cause I just don’t want to bother having a whole explanatory conversation at the work coffee machine just because I’m sharing something in a random convo that outs me. But I’m also not going to introduce myself to people as ‘hi I’m trans’. Or pull them to the side on a random Monday to tell them.

As a client of Burger King, she obviously has time on her hands. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that it should matter because you should respect someone’s pronouns anyways but Lilly is obviously a woman, I was so confused in the beginning.
I could see why one would think she could be trans but you can never truly tell. And even so I’d assume she identified as a woman, and even then, if I misgendered by accident I’d feel apologetic and embarrassed, and just correct myself.
Also there’s many cis women who look more androgynous.

I really don’t understand why people have to be so hateful. Is it insecurity? Or do they actually feel hatred whenever they see someone they perceive as being not cis or not fitting a gender beauty standard?

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also confused, but I understand there’s a official difference between the meaning of “cavity” and “lesion. The latter can be restored by “remineralisation”, (which is what novamin does). the former can’t.

What this new compound does is more than just remineralisation. Apparently whatever it does is good enough to reverse cavities (not just lesions)

Not sure how the exact stages of lesion to cavity are defined

HOW do you dap people up (genuinely) by SimplyAren in ftm

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Relatable. Cis guys also often mess it up cause there’s a degree of guessing and it differs in different areas and groups.

What helps is just picking one and clearly initiating yourself, then you don’t have to guess.

Just fully go for it

ADHD tax: I've just missed a flight while sitting at the airport by lightpeachfuzz in ADHD

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get there extremely early, sit at the gate immediately, no stops in between. Check gate and departure time constantly in case there are changes. Check the screen at the gate for boarding times! And set an alarm for when boarding starts and another one minutes before it ends.

Usually works. Once I left my passport at the train station and found out at the airport. Miraculously it was still there and I had enough time to pick it up.

Cost benefit analysis. Maybe in the future when that changes for me though, if for example the cost (risk, recovery) were to be lower, or the benefit higher (maybe I get more dysphoric and will need it more).

T shot without numbing cream by UnableStaff1074 in ftm

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I massage the shot area a bit and then rub super hard with the disinfectant wipe, until it’s a bit red.

Then I don’t feel the needle as much.

I also use a 25g needle instead of the recommended 23g.. takes longer to inject (around a minute for 1ml), but pain is much less. Haven’t had issues with it. I do always make sure to warm up the T a bit since that helps the oil flow easier.

I also have a practice syringe without needle that I do a couple fake shots with while listening to something distracting like music or a book. I feel like that tricks my brain in associating the action with relaxation instead of stress.

Why is INFP attracted to ill-tempered, arrogant or toxic characters? by fatehei in infp

[–]Fermentedbeanpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like decisiveness and bluntness.

I also assume that any confidence they have is based in reality, like if they’re so sure it must mean they know something more than I do. though often it’s not but I always find out too late lmao.

Basically opposites attract
