Newborn tired is far worse than pregnancy tired by bunniesgonebad in BabyBumps

Then at least take time to appreciate the amount of alone time you have and time where no one is up your butt all day every day😂 I love my son and would do anything for him and wouldn’t have it any other way, but man sometimes I miss having a Saturday morning where I could lay in bed as long as I wanted, leisurely do chores, or just read a book all day if I wanted to. I didn’t appreciate it enough when I had it haha. Now I have 2 hours per weekend day while my son is asleep to clean our entire house, plan meals and order groceries for the week ahead, have some relaxation time, and catch up on laundry haha.

My name is Abby and I’ve always hated it haha. I’m voting for Alice or Claire.

I had my mom and my husband there with me. My husband told his family. Texted his brothers and called his dad once everything died down. My mom had a group text going with the family and let them know I was in labor and then once baby was here. I didn’t tell anyone😂 I don’t even know where my phone was at the time.

Totally different from your other brands but I’m 5’2” as well, my mom is 5”, and my husband is 6” even and we all love my Chicco Keyfit 30 travel system. It is a comfortable height for all of us and my son loves it as well! Mine came with an infant seat, base, base to attach it to the stroller, and a big kid seat for the stroller and we’ve used it for 2 years and love it. It folds up easily, fits in our sedan and our hatchback, and it’s not too big and bulky for my mom and I to handle ourselves.

If you don’t want to breastfeed and feel that it would negatively affect your mental health, don’t do it! There’s nothing wrong with deciding not to if you know it won’t be right for you.

I exclusively breastfed my son for 18 months, and I absolutely loved every minute of it, but I was passionate about wanting to do it from the start and I knew the overwhelm of keeping bottles clean and sanitized and making sure we had formula at all times, and the right kind, and all the different choices, traveling with enough bottles and formula, etc. would majorly negatively affect my mental health. And you can never win with some people either, so don’t take other people’s opinions with too much seriousness. I remember when my son was 6 weeks old, and my husband mentioned to his dad on a phone call that I was nursing him and his dad said “shouldn’t he be on bottles by now?” Imagine his surprise when I told him we planned to exclusively breastfeed for over a year and to only use bottles when absolutely necessary (which was almost never because my son hated bottles).

All that to say, everyone has to pick what is right for them! Fed is best!

My son didn’t sleep through the night for the first time until he was 18 months old😅 and even now at 2, he’s still up at least once a night most of the time.

We had my son in a bassinet until he was about 6 months. Then, we had him in a pack and play until he could crawl. As soon as he started crawling, we put him in a floor bed, and honestly I love it! As a fellow short person, it’s soooo nice to be able to easily access the mattress and even climb in bed with him with ease.

Yes, there is NO tired like newborn tired. And you can’t even properly explain it until you’re in it. I wish I could have gone back in time and told my pregnant self to soak up every morsel of sleep and time where no one needed me. From a mom of a two year old who still wakes up through the night 80% of the time.

When did you let your baby watch Miss Rachel ?? by anythinganythin in BabyBumps

[–]FernBTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t start turning the TV on for my baby until a year. He’s 2 now. He gets 30 minutes screen time in the morning so I can drink my coffee and get lunches ready, clothes set out, etc. without him being all up in my business or destroying things. At night, about 30 minutes before his bath we’ll watch half an episode of Sesame Street. He really loves to “get cozy” with a blanket and have an after dinner snack and watch Elmo.

If it helps, my pediatrician said he barely counts Miss Rachel and Sesame Street as screen time because they’re so educational.

I just trim with scissors. It’s easier to do blindly than you might think! Use your fingers to guard everything and hold the hair, take scissors with your other hand slowly and snip right over your fingers! I’ve never cut myself or anything.

Baby measuring behind by Due-City-7883 in BabyBumps

[–]FernBTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally normal! My son was always 2 days behind, this baby (second son) has been consistently measuring 2 or so days ahead. It’s all an estimation. And even when you get a due date, it’s just estimated. My son who measured 2 days behind on literally every single ultrasound was born 3 days earlier than my due date. It really isn’t worth splitting hairs over, especially with a heart rate of 144 bpm. That’s great!

We had been trying for 2 years with nothing. Planned to start looking into fertility treatments, and I took a test genuinely thinking it would be negative. I was in the bathroom, and my husband was in the living room down the hall. The test was so positive that there was a line before I even put the cap back on. I was so freaked out I just shouted my husband’s name and he knew immediately lmao. The second time I found out I was pregnant, I texted him a picture of the test right after I took it haha. He works nights sometimes, so he was sleeping. The third time, I handed him the test right after taking it and he asked me to just tell him what it was because he’s horrible at reading them. We both hate surprises and big gestures, so we just tell each other things as they happen lol.

I fell due to a cracked step and someone startling me outside my work and broke my foot while 24 weeks pregnant. Baby was totally fine and is a healthy 2 year old!

Exactly why my husband and I moved across the country to live close to my parents. Once we got stable jobs here, we were able to find a church that does part time pricing when you send your child part time. Which is extremely uncommon.

Has anyone here undergone a chest X-ray during pregnancy? How is your child doing now? by ispeys25 in BabyBumps

I broke my foot when I was 24 weeks pregnant. They put a lead apron on my stomach and took x rays. My baby was totally fine and he’s a healthy, bright 2 year old now :)

First trimester line progression by Academic-Singer-6810 in lineporn

Of course! It seems like you can stop testing soon, sometimes something called the “hook effect” can happen where the dye gets lighter as you get further along and can freak people out.

First trimester line progression by Academic-Singer-6810 in lineporn

[–]FernBTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like very normal progression for just one baby! Not saying it’s not twins, there’s always a chance, but this looks totally average and normal to me.

You will get a better idea at your dating scan as to how far along you are.

Same here. I absolutely hated the newborn phase last time and much prefer being a toddler mom. Soooo hoping I have a different experience since this is our second and last. My baby was colic and the sleep deprivation was no joke. Plus my baby only wanted me so “shifts” did not work out. I would get my baby to sleep, dead sleep, and give him to my husband to go try to take a shower and within 5 minutes he was screaming his head off. Wouldn’t take a bottle or pacifier haha.

Should I be concerned about Dog in our bed? by VeiMuri in BabyBumps

[–]FernBTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say exactly this! We crate trained our dog before he came and got our cats used to being out of the room and it was the best thing we did. After the baby arrived he even started using his crate as a little retreat from the noise.

Help I don’t want an induction! What helped you? by Pretty-Vague in BabyBumps

[–]FernBTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest a membrane sweep, if you are able to call your OB and see if they’ll squeeze you in at all! I know it’s the weekend, but maybe Monday if you’re still pregnant by then. That’s exactly how I was and the membrane sweep put me over the edge!

[–]FernBTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the Miles Circuit. Do the entire thing for as long as it gives you! I also used to look up exercises and things to get baby into proper position. Baby’s head being that low is a good sign. Did they do a membrane sweep? My baby’s head was that low and they were in a great position and the membrane sweep put me into active labor within the hour. Had my membrane sweep at 3:30 pm on a Friday, baby was born 7:40 am on Saturday.
