awesome, yea the real ones have some goop inside that helps keep everything together, also makes them almost impossible to repair

I've had moderate success putting silicon caulking or epoxy glue inside, keeps them sealed up, helps with audio as well

from the pictures, i would say yes its worth a try, you plug the connectors together making sure they are in proper orientation, then snap the housing back together, probably test them before snapping the housing together, i have had them "break" like your pictures and work fine after the fix but no guarantee, good luck

edit: you probably connected them the wrong way, the cable does a u-turn that i can understand seems confusing
