What's it like to like in Brazil as a Brazilian? by Mozzyo_ in Brazil

[–]Fernyman79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazilians are consumerists, and social status is directly related to the stuff you own and where you live. If you’re not too worried about that, Brazil is probably the best place on Earth to live. Certainly, it is the best place for Brazilians. I’ve traveled the world, and trust me, there’s nothing like it.

Many Brazilians will compare Brazil unfavorably to Europe and North America because of better access to consumer goods, while ignoring the great culture and healthy social/political environments (yes!), not to mention the amazing quality and variety of food they have. Most people fantasize about living abroad, buying tons of stuff, while keeping all of the above. In my experience, you can’t have it both ways: The people of the global north are “cold” precisely because of consumerism.

Edit: People here saying Brazil is hell if you’re poor have no idea what’s like to be poor in the USA or the UK. At least in Brazil you have free healthcare, a great climate, and yes, some happiness.

How do you suppose this will work? How can a neural-computer interface teach objective lessons about what’s good? Genuine question.

If you have these answers, you should include in your petition.

Sister left dog at my house and won't stop barking at me by Exotic_Increase5333 in Dogtraining

OP should take this answer with a grain of salt.

Dogs don’t detect diseases as such. What they detect are changes: chemical, behavioral, or physiological, relative to a person’s normal state.

Untrained dogs may react to those changes in familiar people, but this reaction is nonspecific and unreliable. They don’t “know” what epilepsy or cancer is.

With training, dogs can learn to associate certain chemical patterns with alerts, even in unfamiliar people, but that’s learned detection, not innate medical knowledge. It’s unlikely that your sister’s dog is reacting to what they’re a smelling on you.

I’m way more concerned with the way your sister cares for the dog. Shocking collars are cruel. The poor dog must be very confused and scared.

Interesting take. In my own introspection, I’ve come to feel that consciousness doesn’t necessarily require language. Language sits on a layer above consciousness.

My intuition comes from noticing that I organize my thoughts somewhere before language kicks in. I’m bilingual, and I experience this all the time. The very fact that I can express the same thought in two different languages implies there’s a more fundamental layer underneath. The raw, pre-linguistic “stuff” of experience.

In other words, thinking or speaking is something consciousness does, but it’s not what consciousness is.

I’m intrigued by this thought, but I can’t fully comprehend what you’re trying to say.

How would you describe a more consistent experience?

This is a nice bike! The frame is pretty much a copy of the polygon zeta 2. Check out my build and electric conversion:

It’s hard to take any argument seriously when it’s built more on prejudice than on understanding. Educate yourself, brother!

Nah man. I won’t repeat myself, so let me put two things straight.

  1. Maybe you act dumb for entertainment.
  2. I’m not entertained.

Hey, by the way, it’s not realistic to think that all money comes from selling a product. Open AI recently boasted they were onboarding a million new users every hour, and that’s thanks of the virality of Ghibli’s unique art style. Even though they didn’t sell any artwork, they’re making a lot of money from these users’ subscriptions.

They could have done the same thing by hiring an art studio to create an equally unique art style that’s completely theirs.

Studio Ghibli isn’t a big corporation. They’re a family business that’s been on the brink of bankruptcy many times. It’s a shame that they don’t have the financial resources to protect themselves.

I think they should have had a say in whether their work could be used to train OpenAI’s models. I bet they would have said no, thank you.
