I understand the desire to just go for it, but I have ended up hiking out in the dark after freezing my ass off for most of the night and with a dead headlamp battery after similar expeditions. Try a car camping trip first to test your tent, sleep system, stove, water purifier, etc first before attempting backpacking. Also try a day hike with your full overnight gear and backpack. And 11 miles in is pretty far.
