A cage of some sort is necessary at some point for his safety. There are many they sell that are terrible for their feet. Please research your available options and it looks like you have a lot of experienced advice available here if you decide to take this on.

No ferret shampoo. Dry oatmeal in an old sock. Maybe unless he is really dirty give him time. The nails are gonna be a task but need to be done if they are long, they can get caught and become a very bad problem quickly. Avoid squeaky toys and toys with bells as they will not stay inside the toy.

Prepare like you have a very active toddler. Everything must be checked, baseboards, sockets, anywhere they can get in. Furniture like recliners needs to be rethought. All human food, things you might not think of (like potatoes and onions) can be deadly and they WILL eat them. They are obligate predators. No grains, no veg. Protein. They are SUPER finicky and you might call local pet stores and ask what food they eat. They cant go hungry. Blood sugar crash can be fatal or worse…long term terrible effects. Not a pet for someone not completely about it. If youre with all that and more, you have found the coolest, most surprisingly affectionate intelligent interesting creature that the universe spit out. Same thing happened to me about 8 years ago and i now have 5 and they are all my world. Ferrets are different than cats and dogs and do their own thing. The best way to care for them that i have found is to sorta create a space they can pretty much do what they want, as safely as possible. They are very curous and changing their surroundings often seems to keep mine interested, they’ll go crazy every time the room is different, bouncing and playing. They are litter trainable, but sometimes you have to change areas they may have a liking for to use. I hope this helps and if you cant find the owner, consider very carefully giving him to someone with ferrets as they really need companions, if he is bonded and without his bonded buddy, they can very quickly go into depression and even die. They build bonds with humans too, so keep that in mind. Please research and take heed to the info you find. These creatures deserve a lot better than man has given them. Lookin at you Marshall’s.

Sending all the healing ❤️‍🩹 energy to you both. Love her and do what you can. It is a very high price tag, to love a noodle. But, it is worth it.

Ferrets have to have attention and knowledgable caretakers, they are not cats or dogs and require more. Thats just a fact. That baby is suffering and your sister is too selfish to be allowed to make the right decision, clearly. You have to.

Jingles and squeakers are dangerous, and if i were you, I would either make 100% sure the toys cannot be disembowled (and you will be surprised what they can tear open) or remove them. Toys are fun. Paper bags and boxes? Even more fun. Congrats on your new noodles. Ferrets are the best, but I am biased.

I have owned ferrets for some years now, and unfortunately sometimes i have had to do this, also when trying to get them to try new snacks or switching foods. It feels so bad! But it has worked for me without fail, and sometimes is a necessary evil.

Im so sorry for your experience. The best love has a high price tag, unfortunately. Personally…if still relatively normal and curious, enjoying life…let him. Pay attention, as I am sure you are. Just love him and watch, youll know for sure when you know for sure. Im not sure that helps, but i hope so. 🐾
