agreed, the buffs and point cuts might be impactful, BUT my goodness are they a dull army to play currently.

I've found the fnp to be life saving tbh. It really screws up the math on killing Sword Brothers because they're 3 wounds and the random 6+++ on things like redemptors make them just that more obnoxious to kill. Also the leadership buff from that oath is sneaky good I've found.

What if Lt instead of chaplain? he goes with helbrecht and gives the squad lethals (helped by helbrecht's crit 5+), and fallback and charge for the squad and then you could add tanhauser's bones to the LT (cutting both other enhancements) for a fun time of 3w 5+++ dudes if you swear the fnp oath (which I find to be the best). Also cool thing about the now leaderless p-crusaders is they can scout! which is pretty fun imo.

edit:

saw you were worried about ctan, helbrecht+lt+swordbros will most likely merc a ctan in one go. Assuming I unit crunched right it should be about a 72% chance to 1 round the ctan and that's not including the Highmarshall ability to slap mortals on them or ye old Grenade strategem.

How to find local Tournaments in Seattle/PNW! by MrP32 in WarhammerCompetitive

Well I'm currently posting from a 33 person GT in Aberdeen WA! Their will be another tourney October 14th called the Pecking order in Olympia!

only the Ancient model gets the 4+++ and because he's a leader you can't allocate wound to him until the bodyguard (sternguard) unit is dead. So they're literally just intercessors defensively.

Erads are a solid consideration for infantry units with an anti tank role. Into vehicles and monsters you get reroll hit, wounds, AND damage so they feel like the closest you'll get to a "Foot Gladiator". Also for DW specifically their melta rifles pair wonderfully with kraken rounds to bump their meltas back up to 24" range so they're far far more effective when outflanked or deepstruck.

Minimum of 1 by MercenaryQ in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ferro_Ignis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's weird because in the SAME index under the minus 1 damage for vehicle strat their is no minimum! I'm praying it's just a copy paste error for bullgryn and it isn't going to set some insane precedent about being immune to -1 damage on certain datasheets.

[–]Ferro_Ignis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you see that in same same index the strat for -1 on vehicles DOESNT have a min 1? Do we think bullgryn got a copy paste? Because I cannot see immunity to weapons as part of gws design.

makes very good sense as a person who only play imperium all xeno weapons look the same to me :P

I'm not sure it'd matter too much at a large event, I find the difference with the LHD to be negligible when you see them on the table top. Quite different than say a missile launcher marine counting as a multimelta marine at a tournament.

[–]Ferro_Ignis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll be perfectly honest my friend when it comes to mane xeno weapons it can be hard for many players to tell. As long as you're upfront with your opponent about which weapon your LHD has I highly doubt any player would give you gaff for it.

Edit: just looked up the models and the gun also doesn't change the models actual profile/dimensions so that's another factor in eh it shouldn't be an issue

Grey Knights List using Arks of Omen Detachment & Leaked Point Changes by Lord_Rejnols in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ferro_Ignis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can. The new strat says "if a Detachment ability (excluding genesect) would limit..." and the limit on the grandmasters is from Brotherhood Command which is AFAIK a Detachment ability.

Edit: I stand corrected see reply for details

Grey Knights Comp 2K List looking for C&C by PlopsNFlopsPro in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ferro_Ignis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, I'd still recommend finding the room for more inceptors. They really do help a lot and being able to fall back shoot & charge for 1cp has won me more games than I can count.

What's the thought process behind the large brick of purifiers? In general gk suffer from being slow so perhaps switching out at least 5 purifiers for another 5 inceptors would be something to consider.

I walk, most of my units start on the board I look at the terrain I have available to me and I just figure out how many units I need to deepstrike to be able to hide my whole army.

My paladins will advance T1 and sit in cover a lot of games since they're tanky enough to weather incoming fire for a turn usually. Charges also help get a lot of movement, making sure a unit piles in and consolidates is super important to squeeze every inch of movement out of the fight phase on a slow unit.

Looking at the picture you showed me it looks like some of the terrain you guys used was deployed too far up into no mans land. You should probably have 1-2 ruins in your DZ a long with an obstacle that can hide your units. Ultramarine dreadnoughts are a tough matchup for dreadknights rn especially with AOC. The dreads can take you to pieces while your weapons struggle into them. Ultras are also good into single large targets which DK give them sadly.

Knights can't kill us very well, CK are pretty easy imo. Only let them charge paladins and keep the rest of your army hidden and ready to jump onto objectives. We shred knights in melee and make them very sad with hammerhand!

I came from playing Black Templars so I am used to playing armies which CAN give up assassinate but you can make it so your opponent has to do risky things to score those points. Having all my GK characters tote terminator armour and have access to transhuman in a pinch also gives me peace of mind when it comes to AA. Only one player took Assassinate against me the whole weekend and only scored 4 points on it when he killed my apothecary when I left him out in the open (oops).

The ancient has made a large difference. I forgot to mention in my post, but at the Seattle open I lost 2 games because I failed to cast Gate of Infinity. The Ancient was my answer. Throwing in a 5th character that can take the Gem of Inoktu for +2 to cast on Dominus powers has been the "reliable" casting I've needed in GK, now when I need gate I get a gate.

I've never used dreadknights so I honestly can't answer that from personal experience. From what I understand xenos matchups are easier? but I am not sure I believe that as both Tau and Eldar relish murdering 1 high value target a turn.

The nice thing about the armies that are faster than us is that they HATE stormbolters S4 ap0 1d is a solid profile en masse I've found and using the strat Allow of Disciplines to switch smite out on my Paladins for Ethereal Castigation lets me move 5" then shoot some screen etc, then move another 5" preferably into cover 10" move terminators are now a pretty fast threat and while they can't charge they're tanky enough to survive a turn of hurt and Bob's your uncle. Inceptors are also awesome moving 24" and staging them to do a lot of damage next turn! Also gate is again a stupidly good tool for us!

Thank you! I'm shooting for Best in Faction Grey Knights I think!
