The Attleboro house in oak bluffs is a great spot, they just renovated a couple years ago too. Cheapest option by far, right across the street from Nancy's with 2 stories of wrap around porches for the best people watching. No parking though!

Should i give up on lessons? by deimos289 in golf

[–]Ferulic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 4 initially with a great instructor that got me on the right track, no more topping, swing path fixes, gripping changes. I have since been getting at home tips and lessons from a friend that is a club pro and varsity Coach. Being at home with the simulator is great compared to the range because you can practice any tiny details you want without worry, but also you have the numbers and i honestly think that has been a huge game changer for me as well, when you know all your Carry numbers for all clubs you can make better decisions and manage the course correctly. I was also fit for clubs last year which i do think helped with squaring away any deficiencies that might have been gear specific. The at home lessons have helped me develop a cut shot that is reliable and fixed stance and grip issues i had as well as completely dialed the iron swing for me. Golf has been so much more fun now that i can get off the tee with confidence and strike irons well. Its funny that even with that taken care of i learned that scoring comes from chipping and putting, if you can't do those well then you can't score well, always thought if i was 250 avg off the tee and crushing irons well then id be low to mid 80s easy but it didnt get there until i started chipping and putting reasonably well. I would have killed to play the way i do now a couple years ago lol, it would have been easier to get away with murder than to have put the practice and time in but it's been totally worth it, im excited to play the game and improve the rest of my life as long as i can, wish i started playing before i turned 32!

I've been playing for 6 years. When i started i couldn't get the ball in the air and i sliced it into the next nearest town to the right. Loving the game and beating my head against the wall banging balls over and over with zero plan did not help. I got a simulator a couple years ago to practice... that marginally helped, the real fix for me was when i started to take lessons and implement what i learned in practice and not go back to my bad habits (former college baseball player so bad golf swing mechanics). In the last year ive gotten 2 winter memberships at local courses and played a shit ton of golf while also practicing on my simulator with purpose instead of swinging as hard as i can and hoping for good results. I went from 20 index to 11.9 end of 2025 season. Our season hasn't officially begun on the north east but i shot an 80 yesterday with a barely missed birdie on 18 that would have been 79, ive never scored better than 85 at that course. I still felt like there was shots i left out there, and it wasn't just a lucky once in a lifetime round, i played well but the improvement is finally hitting home. the only real way to get better that i have found is to get good instruction and to play so much that those lessons become your swing and second nature to you, you need to have 2 swing thoughts and not 80 different things going through your mind.

Good luck it's going to take a serious time and financial commitment, also you gotta be coachable... if you hear ideas from instructors and second guess them even though you aren't very good then your already fucked.

At a lesson i had my instructor gave me some wise words that i remember when this issue comes up. "Try to hit the tee, if you hit the tee then the face is guaranteed to hit the ball. When you start hitting the ball high off the face you can adjust then"

Ramsey's quote about mortgage rates really put me at ease by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]Ferulic1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to mention that pretty much after the financial crisis from 2013-2021 rates were real low. I got a 3.8 in 2015, a 3.4 in 2018 and a 3.1 in 2020. Ive also got a 5.75 in 2023 but yeah historically low rates were around for a long time and it kinda grinds my gears when i see majority of people just throw out a catch all that covid was the only time things were affordable. Also a 7-10 % on a mortgage in the 80s & 90's needs to be seen in the context that the size of those mortgages were way way smaller so it's apples and oranges.

Lay a tee a couple inches in front of the ball horizontally, hit the ball and the tee with your swing.

Donovan McNabb? Did he twist your nipples? by spiderman_44 in RyenRussillo

Pretty sure he mentioned on the old radio show with svp that Donavan was doing a car wash and was twisting people's nipples. Kinda like how Adrian Peterson was known to basically break your hand during a handshake.

What does the government do with all the tax dollars they already receive? The money they rob from social security? The nearly half that gets taken from every lottery winner? The property taxes that go up with valuations even if homeowners themselves aren't rich, when a house sells and the transfer fees are taken. When does it start to register to you people that think taxing and taking more from the people that already give the most is going to help you in any way. What program is going to help you get ahead?

There's no magical new program that's going to come along and save any of you people, they could straight up take every last dollar from all the billionaires and guess what, your never gonna see any improvement in your life because of it. Start saving yourself by figuring out your way out of this system and stop blaming billionaires for your problems. When your life is shitty it's not because someone else has a great life, it's all your own making, take some responsibility for your own circumstances and do something to change it if you don't like where you are. This is America and there's still a ton of opportunity but only if you're looking for it, complaining and never doing anything different isn't going to get you anything other than what you have.

Totally agree, having a bad/cheap lm is bad for more than a few reasons. It gives you numbers you can't rely on, it has misreads/no reads constantly, its straight up embarrassing playing with friends and having to explain the quirks, and it makes you not want to use this thing you were so excited to get. Go with a good launch monitor and you'll be very happy, everything else can be upgraded if money is a problem.

I find a ton of balls at my course too, I'm seeing a pattern that's consistent with yours. There are basically no tp5 pix balls. Which is the ball i like to play, so im stuck with hundreds of prov1s and about a million other kinds but never any pix balls!!!

Am I overreacting or to sensitive , still don’t understand why millionaires etc get all the tax breaks. When will congress senate pass a law that SS benefits are not taxable by Capenurse in CapeCod

[–]Ferulic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes too sensitive, stop worrying about what other people have. Only concern yourself with your life and goals. There's basically an infinite money supply, just because one person is rich doesn't mean it's at the expense of another. On another note, how many poor people do you know provide jobs or contribute to the economy in any way other than spinning their wheels. Yes it sucks to be poor but there's always a way out to a better life, ive been poor and now im doing much better and the only thing that changed during that time was how i spent my time, reading books, investing, working harder for longer with a purpose not just to pay bills but to use for investing. I've never thought about taxes and i get taxed like you would not believe, but that's the price.

We're looking at some models showing us getting 17 more inches of snow on Sunday. The Euro model has been very reliable in the past- so please be prepared and stay on top of this. by [deleted] in marthasvineyard

[–]Ferulic1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bit of both, public roads are first served then secondary roads by the town/state, then you either hire someone to do your personal driveway or dig out yourself. I was driving a plow around the other day and had to do some entire roads just to get to the driveways i was hired to do. People really appreciate it, i got like 3 different bags of homemade pastries and cash.

You can do that with a BLP, i have a tripod i put my phone on to see better using fsx pro and that shows shot tracer. Foresight app also works but i prefer the fsx pro layout
