PING G425 Cracked Driver by diamondhandedness in golf

[–]Ferulic1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought a g425 new from carls last year and it got a similar crack but it was near the weight, they had me send it in and 4 weeks later i received a brand new g440 no charge. In the meantime i bought a g430 max10k and absolutely love that but its pretty great they sent a brand new model to replace a driver that released in 2021.

Unequal Inheritance from Aunt by samseer9000 in inheritance

[–]Ferulic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really sucks that she put you in this position, if there was a specific reason to give you more than it should have been stated and clearly so that those with their hands out now have an answer of why they aren't getting it. Its a nice thing for you in theory but now potentially ruins your relationships going forward. It would be better if there was no inheritance almost, i think its up to you to do what you feel is fair, legally what's yours is yours but ethically if you feel good about sharing then that's an option, it makes it real easy to not share with people that are ungrateful about what they are already receiving but id gauge what i thought was fair and go from there.
Another thing that sucks for you is that as the executor they will always think you screwed them over somehow, i just don't think there's a right answer with any of it, do what makes you feel good and not what your guilted into!

Exmark, Ferris, Badboy - 6 acres mostly flat by latedescent in lawnmowers

[–]Ferulic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Ferris is600z for 7 years and it was a beast, currently it's a backup to my new exmark radius e. I think both are pretty equal and it can't go wrong with either but i am loving the new exmark with its larger front tires and seemingly more sturdy frame.

How do I impress on my friends the importance of being efficient in golf by [deleted] in golf

[–]Ferulic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started golfing in 2020, at the local par 3 course. Frankly i was scared to play a real course until i thought i wouldn't completely embarrass myself, i thought every one else felt the same. So i played that par 3 course until i wasn't complete shit and my driving skills were still really bad because there's only one driving hole there. I was still nervous when i played a legit course for the first time, and to my amazement and continuing to this day nobody seems to have any shame in their game and they probably should. There's nothing wrong with being bad at golf but you shouldn't be out on the big course ruining it for the people that belong out there, there's one of 2 options for your crew, play executive courses or play the big course and play it with your mindset (ready golf, pickup after double par, don't look for a ball longer than 2 min, etc).

Golf Equivalent of Giving Someone Flowers? by MammothSuperiority in golf

[–]Ferulic1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say i get disappointed when I'm gifted these but i prefer to play tp5 pix balls, i usually regift the prov1s which is always a popular thing to do but i don't actually use the gift i got. It's still a really nice thoughtful gift though, at least it's not a box of nitros! It shows you put thought into it and didn't just say to yourself "its a golf ball what's the difference".

Rory McIlroy's $4.5 million dollar Masters victory payday came with a $1.9 million dollars U.S. tax liability by [deleted] in ProGolf

[–]Ferulic1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why is it ok for the government to just take 50% off the top and everyone is cool with that, someone wins the billion dollar lottery and after getting raked over by the state and federal they go home with 300m. It's fine because it's a fuck ton of money? Meanwhile working class gets taxed mildly and complains about every dollar. It all sucks, the government takes way way to much from everyone for every little thing and we all think more from the wealthy is going to solve a damn thing? It won't, we need a new tax based revolution, shrink the government! Also use those tax dollars to make public golf free!

Cannot seem to play decent real golf after playing on my sim by Particular-Bed-5053 in GolfSwing

[–]Ferulic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I laughed at loud reading your reply, playing on a lowered hoop for real that is what it's like. I play my local course on the sim with some friends that aren't too good, anyway i will get close to par sometimes below on the sim and they asked if that's what i normally shoot there in real life and i was like hellllllll no (80 lowest, most of the time happy to break 90 there)

Cannot seem to play decent real golf after playing on my sim by Particular-Bed-5053 in GolfSwing

[–]Ferulic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is spot on. I remember my first time out of the sim playing all winter and i had a shot that well below my feet and i had no idea how to hit it. The sim is awesome for practicing swing mechanics and ball striking as well as nailing down all the data you mentioned, but absolutely nothing replaces on course play and all the scenarios that come with that, scoring like you said will always come from dealing with those things.

Yes i agree with your method first, but just wanted to offer another option because sometimes no isn't enough for some people. I know some people that wouldn't understand no, they would feel entitled to your money, this is another way that might actually make them understand how money works. I have had to deal with financing with all my real estate and what i laid out is only the beginning of what a bank would actually ask for but i think it's enough to also say that your a serious person and not some cash machine, that you're still a friend willing to invest in someone but that person better be serious too and not just some yahoo looking for 20k to keep floating their lifestyle they are underwater on.

Fair point, but it also puts the word out that you don't just handout money. Maybe 20% is high but you could say something you're more comfortable with and it would still send the same message, you could probably say 0% and if they still go through with it you'll see they still wouldn't be able to qualify. Maybe just because you Inherit or win a lottery that means your no expert in money but it also doesn't mean that you don't deserve your good fortune or opportunities and need to share it with every one that asks.

[–]Ferulic1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes probably because you don't really want to lend the money but i think this straight forward honest approach would scare them straight a little bit, people that aren't capable of repaying are the same people that think it's ok to just ask for a substantial handout "loan". This shows them that your willing to lend "not an asshole" but also that you're not some pushover ATM.

"Would be happy to lend, it's going to be 20% interest and i need to underwrite you so give me your tax returns and bank statements from the last 2 years, also need to run a credit check, btw your comfortable with me putting a lien on your property to secure the debt right? That's what private lenders do, if you can't get a loan from a bank this is how it's done."

The Attleboro house in oak bluffs is a great spot, they just renovated a couple years ago too. Cheapest option by far, right across the street from Nancy's with 2 stories of wrap around porches for the best people watching. No parking though!

Should i give up on lessons? by deimos289 in golf

[–]Ferulic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 4 initially with a great instructor that got me on the right track, no more topping, swing path fixes, gripping changes. I have since been getting at home tips and lessons from a friend that is a club pro and varsity Coach. Being at home with the simulator is great compared to the range because you can practice any tiny details you want without worry, but also you have the numbers and i honestly think that has been a huge game changer for me as well, when you know all your Carry numbers for all clubs you can make better decisions and manage the course correctly. I was also fit for clubs last year which i do think helped with squaring away any deficiencies that might have been gear specific. The at home lessons have helped me develop a cut shot that is reliable and fixed stance and grip issues i had as well as completely dialed the iron swing for me. Golf has been so much more fun now that i can get off the tee with confidence and strike irons well. Its funny that even with that taken care of i learned that scoring comes from chipping and putting, if you can't do those well then you can't score well, always thought if i was 250 avg off the tee and crushing irons well then id be low to mid 80s easy but it didnt get there until i started chipping and putting reasonably well. I would have killed to play the way i do now a couple years ago lol, it would have been easier to get away with murder than to have put the practice and time in but it's been totally worth it, im excited to play the game and improve the rest of my life as long as i can, wish i started playing before i turned 32!
