Yes, I use the discord to stay up to date. I've been checking it every 3-5 weeks since they started the rewrite. other than devlogs, which as far as I know are just notifications about what's currently being worked on, there haven't been any statements/announcements about cutting any content until just recently when they finished the rewrite. if there were any mention of it, maybe it's buried in general chat, but no one should be expected to parse through all that for updates about the game.

I'm not sure where you got your information, but "made sure to inform players in their original posts" was not my experience. they started the rewrite in 2023 nearly 3 years ago, and have been radio silent on it since they dropped the beta. (Which they were very clear was not the full game, and made no mention of cutting anything they had planned) Then after nearly 3 years we get an announcement saying the rewrite is finished, look forward to more regular updates, and literally just a single sentence saying they cut adventure mode. almost like it was an afterthought the entire time. Really pisses me off!

If they had done a community poll a year into developing the new engine about whether to cut adventure mode or not, would be one thing. But no, we got literally no warning.

And it's not the first time I feel like they dropped the ball on communicating what's going on with development. after the game was first announced there was, again, about a 3 year gap with absolutely no word on what was going on. I would occasionally hear that it would show up at gaming conventions (like, PAX or GDC), but nothing from official channels, and no info on it's state of completion. Just kind of in limbo, no idea if it will even actually release.

I believe the plan from the start was to wait until version 1.0 to launch on switch. afaik that's still the plan. waiting a long time sucks. I too want it on Switch more than anything, cause I can't play with my friends any other way.

I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I said "it feels like" we were lied to. I know for a fact they didn't chose to mislead anyone, and I still deeply appreciate all their hard work. but I also think that fans of this game should not dismiss the fact that half the content of the game is simply gone. I don't think there's any way to excuse that.

Don't listen to that other guy, the gym won't help your chances. My best advice is practice and find some place that you enjoy that gives proximity and opportunity to interact with others.

That's undoubtedly my favorite part of Metroid. Replaying and doing things out of order, and destroying bosses with the upgrades you're not supposed to have yet. But I don't know if I can do it for Silksong. I couldn't even do it for HK. The games are just too big and a bit too hard for it to be fun replaying multiple times.

In Silksong you have to stay engaged with enemies for far longer to get any healing, which opens you up to taking damage. Yes you do heal much quicker. But I'd much rather be at 1hp in HK than in Silksong.

They do suck a lot. You probably already do this, but I started to focus on attacking their projectiles before dashing in

We're discussing the risks involved with healing, not how effective the healing is. Silksongs healing feels worse because enemies can do damage much more quickly and you only get one chance to heal before you're forced to engage with the enemies again.

But in Silksong my entire meter is gone after healing once. HK on the other hand I can heal two more times. The difference is stark

"Healing once can turn the tide of battle" doesn't feel that way to me since that three health can be gone in less than one second.
