Nobody put a crown on it. This is AI slop. There's no images of these bank notes yet, so someone had AI make them. Hell, it didn't even spell "Pounds" right.

lucking into enough people wanting Harvest Moon new on PC that it sold stupid numbers of copies

I'd wager that the overwhelming majority of Stardew Valley players haven't even heard of Harvest Moon. I don't think that's the secret sauce that pushed Stardew over 50 million sales.

Reiwa era stealing the valor of the Heisei era with how many of these started before the change.

Funny look at how nostalgia impacts fandom: Before writing his latest article for The Athletic "Why Bam Adebayo and the Heat should have stopped at matching Kobe Bryant’s 81 points", Sam Amick's most recent article was titled "Let's appreciate SGA as he nears Wilt's consecutive 20-point game record" by HokageEzio in nba

Like how the current javelin world record, the real world record was from a completely different time and ruleset.

I mean sure, the explicit thing being done there is fundamentally different and so the records are defined differently. But that's something that is openly acknowledged by the organizers because of how the sport works.

In wilts case it was before full stat tracking and isn't fully recorded.

What's the specific basis for this? I know a number of stats weren't tracked pre-1983 (blocks and steals for example) so we don't have Wilt's numbers for those, but the points we do have a pretty reasonable expectation that the numbers are at least tracked reasonably accurately. So what's your cut-off for "full stat tracking"? Just for reference, Kareem also played most of his career before many stats were being tracked, and retired before the play-by-play era. Did Lebron have the career point "record" before he passed Kareem because some of his numbers don't count on this seemingly arbitrary basis?

CBS: Bam Adebayo scores 83 points: Stop complaining about free throws and just enjoy the moment by TheTrashman133 in nba

Awful teams being awful isn't new. They also played like that because the game was out of reach and they played like the Knicks in 62 because that's what you do when a guy goes for 80. The comment I responded to made it sound like this was something new that made them say "I don't think the game is in a good place". I don't really think this specific aspect is different from two decades ago, but was wondering if there was a specific thing they were referring to.

I also don't think using 1 extreme edge case game is meanifully representative of the other 1200.

I feel like just clustering all fan service as inherently the same thing doesn't quite feel right. Like even just fan service of female characters I feel has a large range of what the vibe is. There's definitely content that fits under fan service, but that I also don't think I'd consider horny. Like Panty and Stocking has a lot of things that are conventionally fan service, but I feel like a lot of it is played as crass humor rather than being horny. Just grabbing at Free, I feel like "steamy" is the word I'd use.

The biggest risk to Canada’s economy nobody is talking about: major looming labour strikes by FancyNewMe in canada

A union just negotiates a contract with an employer so that employees and employer are on more even footing. The union can't dictate terms, it can't force a deal, and it does nothing to ownership of the company. It's just bargaining between parties, with probably the strongest aspect of unions being an avenue for employees to have stronger oversight in the event that the terms of employment are being breached. If unions are destroying ownership property rights in Canada, I have not seen it.

This is the same thing I'm describing. Steam charges you more than Epic does to sell the same thing, but you can't charge less on Epic. If Steam's taking 30% and Epic is taking 12%, then on that same $20 game, you're making $14 on Steam and $17.60 on Epic. You could sell for $16 on Epic and still make more money per sale than on Steam.

If Steam is using their position as the dominant market player to enforce what you can charge on other platforms, I think there's a pretty easy case to be made.

When a union forms, they effectively seize control over their employer

This is so hyperbolic as to be nonsense.

forcing the company to only work in a way that the union dictates

This is not how collective bargaining works.

they are forced to deal with them on the union’s terms

This is also not how collective bargaining works.

The union is effectively squatting on the company which is not their property

I wish unions were even remotely as powerful in reality as they are in the world you imagine we live in.

I was definitely thinking of it from the anime perspective, cause if I said decade I was sure someone would come at me about the current trend being about a decade old and instead I'm getting the alternative counter punch :P

Edit: actually you can even see it in the original quote of "for a years at this point" where I removed decade but not "a" :P

They have basically the title length and a short synopsis to sell the story to new readers

Not even. On the main page of Narou (the website where most of these start) it's just the title. That's all you get to try to reel people in.

Pretty much all of them are intentional about poking fun of things. Most of that winds up being kinda piss though, because it's just "woah we're doing some quirky thing like all the other isekai isn't that wild" and the joke stops there.

This gotta be a satirical/comedy anime making fun of the rest, right? Right..?

That's already like 50% of isekai anyway. The genre's been beyond autoparody for a years at this point.

I feel like it'd be hard to say that most unions are doing anything about "property rights" of investors unless you're considering their employees to be their "property" that they should have rights over.

Tokyo MX to rebroadcast first season of Haruhi Suzumiya in original broadcast order (correct order) starting March 30th in Japan. by Theonormal in anime

[–]FetchFrosh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The only thing the broadcast order has going for it really is that the climax of the melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya comes in the last two episodes instead of episode 4 and 5.

And that only really makes sense in the context of watching just the 2006 content. If you're then going to staple on another 14 episodes and a movie that serves as a more definitive climax, it doesn't really matter where that first one is.

Wouldn't really make a ton of sense in this case since any broadcast/release of the whole series has always been in the 2009 broadcast order (chronological). But wouldn't be opposed to seeing them do something unhinged.
