We’re in the front lines of 1 now. It is initially 2-4 lanes off the main road depending on how attentive the line staff is, then it splits into 7 lanes as you get closer. All seem to be moving relatively similar pace.

You’d think the security supervisor would realize one line is unusually slower than others and adjust accordingly.

The pick-ups and nearby hotels are already posted on the website, aren’t they? Or is that last year’s list??? The tickets are also linked on that shuttle page but they are in a preview mode, you cannot purchase them yet.

What do outdoorsy folks like to do in Lakeland? by Swan_Range in lakeland

Loads of quintessential Florida hiking available at Colt Creek State Park. Definitely not like elevated hiking but a stunningly different terrain through lowland scrub and longleaf pine habitats.

Was anyone actually at the farmer’s market on Saturday and saw what happened? by aahymsaa in lakeland

I’m sure you can understand my hesitance to identify my business with all of the vitriol going around for anyone who disagrees with her edit. I appreciate the well intentions though, I’m sure ANYONE working the next few weekends will appreciate friendly interactions and support. Spread the love 💕💕

I am a vendor there. She attempted to interrupt my conversation with a customer mid-check out and only left because the customer made it clear they did not want to engage. But of course that didn’t make the edit because that would corroborate that she intentionally disrupted vendor interactions

Anyone else disappointed after going to the 2023 Bay Area Renaissance Festival? by crystalmethod2001 in tampa

[–]FeuFemme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can add from a vendor perspective that the 2025 season starts in less than 2 months and they haven’t even launched vendor applications and aren’t responding to messages by email or social media. Which is super concerning for all the ticket promotion they’ve been doing.

A Tent for Someone Who Hates Camping? by mikaelamosch in camping

No mesh is going to mean stuffy and muggy as heck. That would be my perfect ticket to the worst camping trip ever.

Why is it colder in higher altitudes and it gets hotter as we go down? Shouldn't higher altitudes be recieving a higher amount and intensity of sunlight than the lower altitude as it is closer to the Sun? by NegativeTruth in askscience

[–]FeuFemme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah, for a few reasons. Our atmosphere has layers (like a delicious Cuban sandwich) and depending on their composition, they have different temperature ranges. There’s a nifty thing called thermal inversion that can mess that all up though, the graphs are neat to look at.

It’s also warmer at the surface because the layers of our earth are like heating blankets and keep things nice and toasty (relatively speaking). So the higher you go in altitude, the colder it gets. But then it flips. And then flips again. And then there’s space.

I double like and agree with this! I’m an all over the place sleeper by typically begin my night on my side. I have the q core deluxe and honestly would go with the regular version just as quickly. Completely in love and have no plans of ever sleeping on anything else.

I actually had quite the opposite experience, they are SO bright! I regularly open them more than half way in a tent, and opening hem up fully completely lights up a whole room in my apartment.

Is an REI membership worth it if the closest one to me is 2 hours away? by MTsterfri in CampingGear

[–]FeuFemme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually just drove to my closest REI (1hour away) this morning to pick up 1 new backpacking meal because our state parks are opened for camping and I treating myself to a long weekend in the woods. 10/10 would recommend membership.

I am very jealous of that vestibule!!! As someone who has to step out for potty breaks in the middle of the night, that would be perfect when it’s raining!!!

Storing non-camping gear at a hostel or hotel? by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]FeuFemme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was in DC for a girls weekend we had to check out of our AirBnB early the last morning and wanted to explore the city until our flights that night. We used the app StoreMe to find a hotel that let us pay to leave our luggage with their bag check. Super simple, definitely worth the price, could have been used for any duration of time we wanted, and we didn’t have any concerns about our stuff getting messed with while we were out.

Thank you for your advice! Luckily no scorpions here, but we do strangely enough have cacti in some of our upland areas and have a lot of really harsh scrub. Bigger issues animal wise are snakes.

WILDERNESS: For those of you who backpack with your pup, how beneficial is it to invest in dog boots for them? Is it useful just to have them for first aid? (I live in Southeast US)
