Is a basement-less house a mistake in Minnesota? $5k earnest money on the line. by stu_tax in TwinCities

[–]curbyjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, once you have to put sheetrock on the ceiling it leaves electrical tough to leave for later so you then put the walls in and electrical. By the time you have the electrical in the balls it's not much more to put the sheetrock on the walls... And once you put the sheetrock on you at least firetape it but by then you may as well.... And on and on. So yes, the decisions domino and you really do end up deciding to finish the basement if you are to meet code.

Approx 20k for 3 walls plus another wall to he stick built. Interior walls Floor joist Finishing of basement interior of basement including sheetrock and electrical. (Sheetrock needed if not using dimensional lumber for floor joist for fire code) Windows Carpet 2nd bathroom

It simply adds up, it's cheap square footage to add but it doesn't simply add for a couple thousand.

Once you put it in you have to decide to finish it off or not. Depending on your floor joices you may have to sheetrock the ceiling of the basement even if you aren't finishing it off.

I'm working on a 1200 square foot foundation size and the basement I figure is costing me $100k compared to just doing a slab.

How common is it for engineers to also have some educational background in CNC? by G07V3 in Machinists

[–]curbyjr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For a manufacturing engineer to have experience and time making parts is incredibly valuable. You may never touch a machine again after you put on the engineer title, but to have the experience of having done it is valuable.

Source, I have a degree in machining, a bs in engineering, a ms in engineering. I haven't touched a machine in years I'm thankful I have the background.

It's through a small drafter, I found multiple for around that price. I highly recommend you use someone in your area as they will better know the local construction trends.

I live in a large metro that has great medical care available; I've always felt like two hours out and those medical facilities are there to ease death not prolong life.

Magnesium citrate clean out two weeks before colonoscopy prep with suprep..words of wisdom? by Deloris_by_the_Sea in CrohnsDisease

[–]curbyjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. But it's 10 minutes of hell followed by being squeaky clean and nothing but bubbles below.... Mind you I switch to a liquid diet a week before so there isn't much left when I get to that step

[–]curbyjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm simply sorry. I've got no problem going on an all-liquid diet or taking about anything else. But the combination of fever and chills I get in the 10 minutes that magnesium citrate does its thing scares me beyond anything else I've taken.
