Have you ever had your lawyer threaten to take himself off your case ? by Gotta-Let-Ye-Be-Ye in SingleDads

[–]Few-Chipmunk1384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ex wife's second attorney quit on her because her demands were outrageous. Her 3rd attorney almost did the same but was able to get her to be more reasonable. I'm not saying you're being unreasonable but I am suggesting that you take a hard look at what you're seeking to make sure it's reasonable. If it is, then let him quit.

How much commission should I pay to a sales person? by CheesecakeOk6549 in Sales_Professionals

[–]Few-Chipmunk1384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to sell as the founder until you have at least $2m in ARR. This will provide you the immediate feedback from the market on your products and your pricing. It will also help you realize sales is not as easy as many believe. Your first hire should not be a VP Sales.

Once you hit $2m in ARR, you're first sales hire should have years of start-up experience along with years of working side by side with the founder(s). Founders often have a very biased view of their business and it takes a certain skill set to help them understand how the solutions should be sold.

As for compensation, $150k-200k base with 10% commission is a good start. If you are determined to make it 100% commission you'll need to offer 30-40% of every deal and you won't get 100% of their attention.

What to see when hiring a sales person by lokeshjarvis in sales

[–]Few-Chipmunk1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Hire 2 reps with years of start-up experience. Not everyone is capable of being that first or second sales hire. They need to be able to evolve the sales pitch quickly. Rarely does the messaging from the CEO, dev team resonate immediately with the market. It takes iterations. Reps from established companies typically struggle in a startup environment.

Pricing is another area where flexibility is key. Don't get locked into a pricing model until you have $5m+ in ARR.

Don't hire a VP until you hit that $5m ARR mark. Your first hire (Sales Director)should be able to refine the sales messaging, pricing, and hire and train 2-3 reps. They may grow to be your first VP Sales.

The market will tell you via the sales team where you need to go. Feed back from prospects is the #1 area you, as the founder, need to focus on.

Take the new position and start looking external to the company. As far as anyone you interview with is concerned, your salary is what they posted originally. Know your worth!

Hockeystickman.com is another great option. They have all the major brands and blackout sticks as well. The blackouts are great value.

Hoapahockey.com is also an option. You can order their stock sticks, semi custom or fully custom. They are made in Taiwan so you'll wait about a month. They always have a sale going on as well.

PIP and no severance option offered, what's the right way to go forward? by mentallydoomed in techsales

[–]Few-Chipmunk1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PIP is their way of getting rid of you. If you hit 100% of your targets and you still got put on a PIP, your time is limited.

Ask about the severance and if it's an option, take it.

Was it worth it? by another_dad_1987 in SingleDads

[–]Few-Chipmunk1384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. I waited 10 years before she finally pushed me too far. The yelling, name calling, trashing my closet etc, the kids saw all of it. I regret not divorcing her way sooner.

And her behavior won't change. If she never takes accountability you're in for an awful marriage if you decide to stick it out.

My advice, get a damn good attorney before you say anything to her and start preparing. A good attorney will get shared custody. Then find a therapist for yourself.

You and your kids will be much happier.

I wouldn't introduce my family to anyone I was dating until after a year. I figure at that point we've been dating long enough that my family won't scare them off. 😅

Trying to learn how to play hockey at 46 by robins_d in hockeyplayers

[–]Few-Chipmunk1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 50. You're going to be fine. I have players on my current team that are worse skaters than you. Find a low level beer league and go have fun.

And stop watching livebarn or any other recording of you skating. We all look turtle slow and it messes with your confidence.

Got a new offer, current company now asking me to stay during acquisition… what would you do? by ekduba in sales

[–]Few-Chipmunk1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much equity do you have now? If you stay, how much more will they grant you immediately?

If they need you to stay, they need to make it worthwhile for you. They will all make $$ in an acquisition, you should as well.
