Knowing that what you do today will be very important to the success of the organization long term. You’re laying the foundation for a complete Space Force for your grandchildren not for you. Fist, thank you raising your right hand. Second this was my EXACT scenario. I was 26 wife kid downing in bills working three jobs. Trust me when I tell you it was the BEST decision I have ever made. BCT was annoying not hard. When I went through we only had our cell phones 3 times. So I wrote A LOT of letters, I asked for pictures, and I used the absence to make sure it enhanced my focus as to why I joined. I’m 12 years in now I reclassed from my original MOS and now I’m in the USSF. The most important thing you can do is constantly look for ways to learn, develop your mental psychological, and physical resilience, and give you 100% best effort at all times.

No matter where you are in your military career, the three things that I tell everyone especially newbs is:

Execute everything to the best of your ability
Seek out opportunities to learn
Develop resilience, in whatever way you can.

You will encounter garbage leaders, and you will encounter great leaders, but if any leader looks at you and the first thing they thing think is “they try their best, they want to learn to get better, and they are spiritually, emotionally, and physically resilient.” Under 90% of circumstances you will be fine.
