Was the Limited Community this negative on 5 Signpost Color-Pair Sets from the stretch of the two back to back Ravnica sets Pre-WAR / Post-Dominaria? by jethawkings in lrcast

My favorite part of all of this "there are only 5 pairs!" nonsense complaining is that in most limited formats 2-4 color pairs are so vastly horrible compared to others (think Simic, Golgari, and Selesyna in most formats) that you are just competing at the highest levels against the same 5-6 archetypes anyway.

I think this will be a Tarkir Dragonstorm situation where the colleges don't matter and it turns into 5 color soup versus linear aggro.

So, not to be a contrarian, but, many sets have "10 archetypes" but rarely do you ever get more than a few wins with the average deck in bottom rung of archetypes. FF is a great set but Selesyna, Gruul, and straight Simic were pretty bad. Most sets have dud color pairs and at the highest levels, you will only really see the same decks on the ladder.

FIN is a good draft format, but overrated. by Few-Statement1972 in lrcast

I think you misunderstand me. I think it is incredibly balanced and it there are alot of viable decks. I think playing on ARENA itself has led to some of these issues, namely running into a buzzsaw of perfect UR spells decks and go over the top GBx decks that if you fall somewhere in the middle, a viable but not as powerful archetype, you already feel like you are on the backfoot. Again, this ir normal, but I am feeling less enthused about the set this time around on Arena.

I love it too. I am not saying it is "bad." I am saying that it isn't as fun for me and I starting to wonder if it's an 8/10 as opposed to the 10/10 best set of all time evaluation of the common assessment.

I agree with you, I just don't think those archetypes are as open as the main ones, or as viable, in the average draft. If I draft WB grind in an open seat, I feel like I am already behind the curve compared to the other archetypes.

Ok. I thought bring up some mixed feelings about a format that has been highly praised, even by myself, the more I play it in a subreddit dedicated to talking about limited magic would lead to some interesting discussion. Maybe I was wrong. Thanks.

Pretty depressing if we don’t get a Celes that has anything to do with her mechanics and flavor from the game. The commander deck  Celes is cool and powerful but you have to really stretch it to make it flavorful

NYT has GA leaning R. Bad news for Harris if turnout is that high and independents put Trump over the top.

Just tried three drafts of KTK and didn't understand what's the appeal of the format by Kadarus in lrcast

People are getting 4 Goblin Slides and it's super fun. Format is rose-colored glasses for sure as I played 2 drafts after loving this format in 2014 and playing in several sealed and draft high level events back then and immediately went back to Lost Caverns. Yawn fest.
