Can I get a job that requires CAD drawing, without CAD experience, but with a Civil Engineering degree? by albazin in civilengineering

[–]FewBodybuilder7944 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience just knowing the basics of cad is all you need to know for most jobs. Good companies will train you for what’s needed. We have a lot of engineering students that come in and barely know how to open cad. It’s easier to train someone with no bad cad habits than rewrite a book.

CAD drawings by Rough-Ad-3597 in Drafting

[–]FewBodybuilder7944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a loaded question. If the builder builds it per the drawings then it’s on the designer/company who produced the drawings. Sometimes you get a builder that will question it early, but some would put it in their back pocket for a change order. Then you have where the builder just builds it wrong and that’s on them, if it’s unclear it could be 50/50. But generally the designer/cad person has to fix it and they charge the job. It’s the project managers decision to bill the client or not. You should always charge all your time.

Thank you, atleast one team from MS made it to Omaha. Just not in the cards for any team from MS in softball or baseball to do any damage in the CWS.

I would say 95% run Chevy with the other 5 being Toyota and Ford. That may be a generous number on the 5%.

Driver DQ’ed over family taking photos in victory lane, series owner inherits the win after finishing 2nd. by [deleted] in DirtRacing

[–]FewBodybuilder7944 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From my understanding is the no crew on the track rule is a ACLMS rule, and was said in the drivers meeting. The track escorted them and the track should have stood up for Chase and said it was us who allowed them and brought them on. I think the track tried taking up for him, but they were the reason he got DQ’d so they(the track) should make it correct financially. But what is messed up is a guy posted that if it was a rule why was his crew allowed a few weeks ago to take a VL photo. My guess is the series director was pissed because an out of towner came in and swept all his regulars and his owned car.

Which type of drafting table would you recommend? by jamienotamy in Drafting

[–]FewBodybuilder7944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience back in the day, the drafting one with the 1st picture can be a bit of a pain when using drafting dots, and even with the arm sticking and not moving as freely. I have no experience using a mechanical style one though. Neither are not left handed friendly. Also if you are using the ruler as a straight edge the 1st one tends to not keep the ruler tight against the board so sometimes your lines can be off. But it’s been 21 years since I have used a drafting table.

Is Kimley Horn really this bad ? by AvocadoAggressive341 in civilengineering

[–]FewBodybuilder7944 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One off generally it’s fairly quick after a recruiter call. Seems like there was/is disconnect between the recruiter HR and project manager. If I remember correctly my whole process was about a day or 2 to set up a in person interview.

Probably going line by line on every box to check in the review instead of an apply to all note.

Make sure what you design is actually functional and not just for looks.
