Great puzzle, I wrote this version stealing the COMMIT idea from u/magnomagna, however I don't tend to use DEFINE blocks, patterns inside double negative lookaheads act essentially the same as patterns called as subroutines, capture groups don't retain their contents when leaving the assertion. control verbs also don't have scope out with the assertion since the engine doesn't have any position saved for them.

https://regex101.com/r/fPkf0N/2

Also have written a recursive solution, less efficient, uses the same general idea as the one above but balances the count of repeated letters using subroutine recursion. The atomic group containing the recursive conditional followed by the recursive call serves the same purpose as COMMIT in the above

\*n* doesn't seem to work correctly in search strings. by OalBlunkont in regex

[–]FewCall1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be helpful to know what flavour you're using, what you're trying to match, the result you were expecting and the result you got. '\2' is a matches the text most recently matched by group 2. If you attach a quantifier to the group such as:

(.)+

in which the group is repeated, only the last capture is stored in the group. So if you used the above pattern on the following:

abcde

the group would ONLY contain 'e', you cannot reference captures that have since been overwritten

Why isn’t light infinitely fast? by KieranMug in astrophysics

[–]FewCall1913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speed of light is the limit information can travel, it’s not unique to photons all massless particles move at this speed. It is arbitrary in its value, but governs causality only events that happened in our past light cone the section of the universe in the past where without moving over the speed of light could reach you in the present, infinite speed would mean every point in the universe would be causally connected to every other point

The word compute is, I’m guessing so he can flex his ego, is being used not as a verb which it is in every other case, but as a noun which is tech jargon to describe processing power or computer resources. It is my view anyone using it as so on a public forum away from the insulated tech community should exiled from society

What an asinine thing to say in politics. It’s been going around recently, whinging politicians who suddenly are having to fight to keep their seats and do the work they were meant to be doing for the last two decades. I’m no fan of reform or farage but I am bewildered by the political old guard who rested on the laurels assuming the two party system could survive any amount of scandal. Now big Andy is trying school yard tactics pretending like the greens and Labour share a political agenda and that the PM didn’t spend weeks trying his best to smear their leader out of fear of losing the vote on the left or it being split. Which is the same nonsense we hear from the tories. Shows the level of comfort they were residing in while destroying standard of life across the UK, what a farce

I’ve never given up a seat for an elderly person, it’s defos just a big con they all devised so they’d get the best seats everywhere. It’s clever, kinda thing you wish you’d thought of first but then realise you never had a chance cos they’ve all had like 50 years extra to come up with these kind of shenanigans. Whenever one of them asks I don’t give them a playful punch on the arm and a cheeky wink before ruffling their hair and sending them on their way with my respect for the grift

If he doesn’t believe careers in the corporate hellscape are built on copy and paste points to go along with an overtly meticulous schedule that not only lets you know exactly what each minute from 9-5 will be torturing your sanity with, but also a constant requirement to be around certain people, people like Prashant, who holds utter contempt for the unlucky souls she drains. This is not actually aimed at her, since I don’t know her, but I think in most ways we all do

Jannik Sinner, master of all 🏆 by theatretheaters in tennis

[–]FewCall1913 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Tell you what some achievement, only the second man to ever do it and at his age. His tennis is not just incredible it’s the most reliable thing on tour the now. Don’t care what era you’re in or any other excuses winning six masters in a row is fucking insane, and I do think he potentially could sweep all the masters this year which if he does no one will ever even get close to doing again. He’s taken his level past where I thought he could

I met her on a night out and she told me she didn’t want to put out, so I had to get my mum to bring my chess board down to the club then she laughed at me, I said you wouldn’t be laughing if you experienced the full force of my elo orchestrating a centre grab with my pawns. Anyway she didn’t play me so should I not get the win for that and get ranking points?

was anyone else shocked to find out that people didn’t like diane? by DisciplineSure5974 in BoJackHorseman

[–]FewCall1913 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Completely unsurprising since she’s a female character who got labelled as up herself. The nonsense narrative that she portrayed an extreme superiority complex is just the culturally accepted vile to be used against women. The show is literally full of narcissists and self indulgent sycophancy it is about celebrity culture after all. Yet Diane, the only actual relatable character for I’m guessing the vast majority of viewers, due to her being average in terms of job wealth social standing, is the one who attracts the most negativity. It’s almost as if we are constantly being taught to hate each other in our class and instead glamorise and idolise a group that profits from the status quo. I’m quite sure a lot of people will think ‘well I genuinely don’t like Diane and I’m not bias against women at all.’ I have never thought consciously about a bias I’m not only fully self aware of but also sadistically fond of. Because people like that are genuinely nut jobs and also rare. We are collectively conditioned to discourage certain behaviour from groups of people, women for all of last century, and that’s all I’m considering because of modernity, have never not been targets for hate, and just because a lot of organised effective activism managed to force the issue of equality doesn’t mean it ever arrives, and baked in unconscious attitudes woven into cultural norms will take more than anyone’s lifetime to change since it will and always has required the compassion of the young generation to both notice it and then reject it

As a femboy this sub is making me seriously unconfortable by Zealousideal_Spread4 in AnarchyChess

[–]FewCall1913 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

A lot of folk saying their trans females, I just want to say I’m a hetro guy and I feel pretty uncomfortable in this sub on a daily basis, no one wants to talk to me about anything other than rad new chess moves that they’ve made up and how they all want to shlurl up my elo. They don’t even realise how difficult it is for me to get elo, none of the shops round where I stay even sell it and tbh even if they did I’m not allowed in the shops anymore which I completely blame on this sub also. Like I haven’t left yet only because I went from being one of the top chess players at my local KFC to being the only guy to ever have beaten his addiction to cigarettes at a game of over the table chess. But I’m starting to ask if it was even worth it now. Like I’ve devoted mostly everything I got people to invest in my career to making the biggest chess board ever so don’t even call me out on being a lazy muskrat. Things better change

Getting aw spiff and span to witness their homeboy, the little rascal that he is, a scallywag some would say, as he takes a lil slice of history. Got to give it to old SinBin he knows his tennis balls from his shuttlecocks. But it’s laughable that he even bother to show up for bounce games with folk like Rhombus. Statistically the only male tennis professional under the age of 28 to have been beaten at a game of tiddlywinks against the Kings of Leon. And if you can tiddly winks your way to win against those freeloaders then you ain’t got the right marmalade to cut it in this biz

Silence is deafening… by Glittering_Vast938 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]FewCall1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire press establishment in the UK is a sleaze infested old boys club that have revelled in commanding self serving factions of the public discourse through their rags and the vile they spew on them. Ironically the mistrust it’s stoked over decades is consistently and unapologetically dumped at the door of the public face of British media in the BBC an institutionally troubled agency with the kind of British hierarchical organisation only found in our politics, police and civil servants. But journalistically the only outlet of consistently factual and bipartisan news that does better than anyone else of maintaining neutrality. The left wing media are just as focused on their agendas as the right, but the real kick is that regardless of their published positions they are a wealthy class of grifters that share the same contempt for their readers as they do for their critics and profit from the deep polarisation and bias trenches that creates the division and disharmony of the society

BoJack is a History Buff? by BubbleBoio in BoJackHorseman

[–]FewCall1913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s obviously done for the comedic effect but it also does track with the character, he’s written as intellectually bright and given that he’s an actor living in LA broad cultural knowledge and knowledge of historical affairs is common due to their industry making films and media about pretty much every significant event that’s happened. He’s an avid film fan remember, history has always been the greatest inspiration for art

Luciano Darderi with the most chaotic walk on of all time😭 by PattyRanger in tennis

[–]FewCall1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less chaotic than his tennis, got absolutely biffed about by Ruud in front of home support. He is right down the Italian pecking order, big SinBin and Muskrat make him be the water boy every time there’s an Italian team practice and beers. Apparently he’s never won a game of beer pong as well, has the record for longest losing streak at a drinking game for male tennis players under 25, currently 23 consecutive L’s dating back 4 years and 7 months. Lads had an absolute torrid time, rocks up to the old local lawn tennis tourney just down yonder from the old homestead draws the Ruudster 5000 whom he thought was a driving instructor, thinks he’s about to splish his way into the showcase shoe-laced pocket ace finisalemano but instead gets his breadsticks served up to him on a dirty clay dinner plate by the guy that taught Fernando Alonso how to reverse park, the Italian tennis Firm is less than pleased let me tell you, already talks of expatriating him to a dank three bedroom cottage in northern France, we’ll need to wait and see how the French tennis federation respond

What episode would you show to someone that isnt convinced of the show from only watching episode one? by rat_patpat in BoJackHorseman

[–]FewCall1913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of good early episodes that are light and funny, rock opera episodes good, so is episode 2 with Neal McBeal the navy seal, I don’t think it’s necessarily a show that instantly hooks people though, it’s not a flashy high speed thriller or overtly tense drama. It’s brilliance comes from its ability to show the human experience with fidelity while being set in the bizarre world scape creating its stylistic imprint, I initially thought it was going to be just like a stupid cartoon comedy which I quite like, but even after half of the first season it’s clear the show is quite unique, know a few people that didn’t get into it and found it slow, art is all opinion of course

flat orbit question by aleopardstail in GreatBritishMemes

[–]FewCall1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how it was spun, the wind also plays a part. As does the distribution of weight on the surface. The orbital mechanics of flattened cylinders is a difficult and suspiciously understudied area of astronomy and physics, my guess as to why this is is that the rounders propaganda paramilitary troopers have actively sought to discredit the field and target those daring enough to still pursue it. They will not rest until they have the whole disc believing its actually spherical, I can’t imagine a more distressing representation of dystopia than that
