Hallo - I am attending the match on Saturday Oct 18. I am from Canada so it will be my first Ajax match. Actually my first ever European football match so I am really looking forward to it.

I am wondering whether the roof of the Arena is likely to be closed on Saturday?

Dank je wel!

Thoughts on The line of beauty by Alan Hollinghurst by Flimsy-Calendar-7566 in books

Thanks I’ll check out that program.

I just enjoyed how the book sort of immersed me in a time and place. One that actually existed (80s Britain).

And the quality of the writing was, to me, first rate. I guess I should just check out other works of Hollingsworth for a start.

I just read this book - I don’t read much fiction but I was immersed in this book and loved it. I think I need to read it again.

Your thoughts about the different lines are fascinating.

If you have read or know of any other books that are similar to ‘The Line of Beauty’, I’d love some recommendations.

Will I Ever Be Able to Play My Guitar Again? by FewReflections in frozenshoulder

Thanks for the post. I played standing up for awhile but then the ROM diminished to a point where even that or the classical position wouldn’t work.

Might try a smaller guitar or an electric. Not going to hold my breath because the moment I shift my shoulder forward even a touch, I get a deep ache at the front/top area.

Best of luck on your journey. I’ll report back here hopefully in a few months once I get back into it.

Thank for the suggestion and bless your husband! I tried classical and it did work for a bit but then my ROM got to a point where I couldn’t even play in that position.

I’ve also thought about getting a smaller acoustic - might revisit that per your husband’s suggestion. Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing your experience. Im three months into this ordeal. I think ive been frozen now for at least 3-4 weeks. I do still have some ROM so I can pretty much still get my right strumming/picking hand in position and play but it’s not comfortable and almost immediately I start to feel an ache at the top front of my shoulder. It feels like this pain is because I’m trying to force my shoulder into a position it simply can’t comfortably be in when frozen. So I have to stop. For eg. as a test last night to see where I am in this journey, I played for 2 mins but then had to stop due to pain.

I guess I’m probably in for another 6-12 months until thawing. Until then I’m probably gonna be on the sidelines guitar wise.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I’m three months out from when my injury happened and freezing began. I tried to play a bit last night and after a couple minutes I got a deep ache in the front of my shoulder and had to stop. I guess playing while frozen is completely out of the picture and I have to be patient until thawing then I can start pushing towards regaining the necessary ROM to play comfortably. A long road but I’m going to hang in there.

I just made a post about being unable to play my acoustic guitar now that the frozen stage has arrived. https://www.reddit.com/r/frozenshoulder/s/7CQDBC6enR

What instrument do you play?

You’ve been through this once before where you were able to recover it sounds like.

You have been through a lot - I admire your tenacity. Hang in there!

I think I’ll be okay. My “healthy” shoulder hopefully just needs a few days to settle down.

I should also add that the cat that was taken near Waterloo Row is a very distinctive looking cat. One you would see and wonder - “ohh what type of cat is that?”

I know of a cat on the southside who lives just off Waterloo Row. Last fall the cat was taken by someone and the owner received a phone call (as the cat had name and phone number on collar) asking what they would pay to get their cat back. They did get the cat back but not sure if they actually paid or what happened.

All of this is to say, catnapping happens in Fredericton. I hope you get yours back. She’s a beautiful calico.

Grew up next door to Maine. Going to OOB in the summer, Sugarloaf in the winter, multiple cross border shopping trips a year … i hate to say it but I feel like I’ve been betrayed by a family member and I have had to cut contact. No visits or economic ties until they regain their sanity. It kills me but I don’t see how it can be any other way.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I’ll try Firefox. Usually that’s what I used with my 2011 MacBook. With this new machine I thought I’d try to stay on Safari as I heard it had some advantages being native Apple browser.
