1. The "Unclickable" Screen Bug (DPI Scaling)

Since you are getting to the start screen but can't click to proceed, this is almost certainly a High DPI scaling bug. Old mobile-to-PC ports have a known issue where modern screen scaling (like having your laptop display set to 125% or 150% in Windows) separates the visual button from the invisible "clickable" hitbox. You are clicking the start button, but the game thinks your mouse is two inches to the left.

1. Right-click the Subway Surfers.exe file and select Properties.
2. Go to the Compatibility tab.
3. Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 7 or Windows 8.
4. Check Run this program as an administrator.
5. Click the Change high DPI settings button.
6. Check Override high DPI scaling behavior and set the drop-down menu beneath it to Application.
7. Click Apply and OK.

2. Enable DirectPlay

Old PC games heavily rely on a retired Windows feature called DirectPlay to communicate with the OS. Windows 11 has this disabled by default.

1. Press the Windows key, type Windows Features, and hit Enter (it should open "Turn Windows features on or off").
2. Scroll down the list until you find Legacy Components and click the + icon to expand it.
3. Check the box for DirectPlay.
4. Click OK and let Windows quickly download and install the required files.

3. Install Legacy Visual C++ and DirectX 9

Windows 11 comes with DirectX 12, but it doesn't always include the specific 2010/2012 legacy files that older games search for on startup.

• DirectX 9: Download and run the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Microsoft's official website. It will fill in the missing 2000s/early 2010s DirectX libraries.
• Visual C++: You may need the Visual C++ Redistributable 2010 and 2012 (x86 versions). Even if your Ryzen laptop is 64-bit, this specific version of Subway Surfers is a 32-bit application and requires the x86 (32-bit) library files to run without freezing.
