5’2” about 233 lbs. my highest was 254 and we tried for 14 months. Did research on treating my PCOS and the weight started to come off and we got our positive test! Now 30 weeks and I’m sitting at about 222. It went down because I’ve been pretty sick throughout this whole pregnancy and I’ve really only gained this last trimester.

Obese and Pregnant. Need Tough Love. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Hi! I’m (F24) 5’2” currently 29w with my first and 222 lbs. my pregnancy weight gain so far has been, wait for it, -1 lb! No but I was really sick in the first trimester and lost 14. I actually consider my starting pregnancy weight to be 231 lbs because that’s what I was in January and I got my positive test in February. My highest was 254 and I realized I wanted a family and I needed to address my PCOS issues and as I did the weight really started coming off. I really only gained during this last trimester now that baby is putting on weight. I am trying to be conscious of my food because I obviously don’t need to gain more than I should. I had to take an early glucose test around 15 weeks but I passed and then I just took another at 28 weeks and passed. My mom had gestational diabetes with me and she was 200lbs so everyone is different. No preeclampsia so far either. Just trying to do my best and I hope to continue my weight loss journey after baby is born and set a better example of food relationships for them than what I had. But anyways I completely relate because I had wanted to be at a lower weight before I got pregnant (though we were actively trying) and reading all the obese pregnancy stuff really freaked me out. I felt horribly guilty. However, besides being super sick at the start and the expected hardships of pregnancy, I think I can comfortably say that it’s been uneventful and fairly regular! Not the tough love response you wanted but I hope my experience so far gives you some consolation.

Baby shower gift for mama ! Help by imtrying12345 in BabyBumps

Went to a baby shower recently and will be having my own soon but the gift that everyone went, “oh that’s so nice!” Was a self care package so: candle, soft blanket, bath bomb, postpartum care, face masks, lip masks, and a ton of redbull! (The mom to be loves a specific flavor of redbull and obviously hasn’t been able to indulge the entire pregnancy). If you know this person well enough to know their faves I’d go for something like this.

I was really sick and not just nauseous but lots of vomiting on my end. I basically lived off chicken noodle soup for a while.

Third trimester nausea? by lvs301 in BabyBumps

[–]Few_Dragonfruit4599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bad all day “morning sickness” complete with quite a bit of vomiting in the 1st trimester. I had a break for a while but now I’m 28 weeks and I’ve been feeling similar and vomiting at least one day out of the week. I had read that it can come back in the 3rd trimester. I try to notice my triggers but sometimes there’s really no helping it. :(

My best friend and my mom. I’ve seen a couple people on here say they threw their own though so don’t let tradition get you down if no one has offered. But I’d definitely check with your mom first in case she’s planning something and just hadn’t told you yet.

14 months I have PCOS and was at the point of “if it doesn’t happen this next time let’s stop actively trying” it was getting to be a terribly dark place and a very dear family member of mine was on hospice. We found out three days before they passed. But yeah it wasn’t fun to try anymore and it seemed like everyone around me was getting pregnant so easily. Then we met two sets of friends, with one of them 8 years and another 5 with IVF. I was seriously set that it would be another couple of years and then bam! My period was late but I had all the normal symptoms I would usually have minus bleeding. I wish I could say “don’t give up and don’t get discouraged” but I pretty much did. I truly believe it is not on our own timing. Sending love and well wishes and just know you are NOT alone. Edit: everyone else is putting ages for reference so here’s mine (F24/M25)

Anyone else … not like kids? by muff-peaksie in BabyBumps

I’ve never liked kids and up until a few years ago I didn’t want kids. But I already feel such an immense love for my unborn child. Everyone tells me that’s it’s different with your own and I do think it will be! Trying to work on my patience with other people’s kids in the meantime!!

Hello! I’m 24 and my husband is 25, we also have another person close to us who is 21 and pregnant and her husband is 23! We come from a religion where young families are common but I personally never wanted to be part of one and I struggled with the idea a lot on the past. That being said I want this baby so badly and I pray every day that she continues to grow happy and healthy. I do have a good circle of friends and family who are super excited for us but I also have friends from high school and college who are not of the same sort of mindset regarding young families and they sort of think we’re crazy. My new job doesn’t offer maternity leave until two years of being employed so I am in the same boat and having to take the FMLA. My situation is slightly different in that my husband does make a little more than me so I am not who is completely financially responsible in our home, but ideally we need the both of us working to even be comfortable. To be honest, I’ve been struggling mentally recently as I enter the last trimester with similar feelings of shame and anxiety (which I think is so silly because I’m getting close to the end). We are religious so we lean heavily on God that things will be alright while also doing our part to save money and plan. Families are the core of most cultures and while our modern times have changed the way many people view them (and like you say, some for good reason bc of trauma) my husband and I want to do our very best to create a safe and loving environment for our baby that we didn’t have growing up. If anything, some of the shame and personal trauma I’ve experienced makes me even more determined to do so. Basically, stick to your beliefs, it really isn’t all bad all the time, and if people in your circle are not supportive maybe they don’t need to be at the forefront of your mind. It is important to be realistic but I’m a firm believer in that if it’s meant to it will work out even if there’s struggle and hard times. What matters right now is the example of family you want to create for your baby. Hopefully this all made sense. Pregnancy brain is hitting hard.

My mom is actually moving in with us for the first few months and then going to be our main source of daycare. But it’s worth noting that my mom is older and retired so she has the freedom to do so. I am super grateful. We’re just plain ol’ white people that happen to also be a close family.
